Konoha, Land of Fire

–Nawaki “The Water Devil” Senju–

He sighed as he stepped out of the Hokage Tower, freezing Naruto on the spot with his glare alone, who was just waiting for him on the other end of the street with a sheepish look on his face. He glanced at the one holding onto him, his student, his other menace, Shisui Uchiha, who held Naruto up by the scruff of his neck, after likely having his fill of fun seeing his sensei in bright orange paint.

Walking towards the duo that were quickly turning into the bane of his life, he thought of what he could do to punish them this time.

“One troublemaking menace, delivered,” Shisui said and released Naruto from his hold, who promptly flipped himself mid air, planting his feet on Shisui’s vest, something that Shisui undoubtedly allowed himself to happen, before Naruto, with a very subtle manipulation of Wind nature chakra, blasted himself off of Shisui and quickly disappeared in the distance, using chakra manipulation techniques he shouldn’t even know to latch himself onto surfaces.

“Oh–Wow. WOW!” Shisui exclaimed before turning to him with his hand on his heart as if this betrayal was personal to him, “How could he, sensei? I mean, where could you have gone wrong in his upbringing? I mean, I just feel so sorry for—”

Shisui’s mouth was shut close with a clever application of water from his side as a small strip of water closed his mouth shut. One of the very few ways that he could get Shisui to shut up and even then, he knew Shisui allowed this to happen because loathe as he was to admit it, as of right now, Shisui was creeping up on him in terms of power and coupled with his youth, he was unsure if he could even win in a spar with Shisui right now.

That didn’t mean that he was not going to discipline his once student. S-class shinobi or not, he was still their teacher and periodic reminders of that should serve as a reminder that they were not the top of the food chain, not right now anyway. Since he couldn’t really rely on Shisui to be cooperative, he turned to the side, “Itachi?”

There was nothing where he was looking and if not for his very advanced sensory abilities, which he never told anyone–the one which allowed him to sense any water body along very large distances—, he would have missed the roughly human shaped mass of water right beside Shisui. There was a small glitch in reality, as if he was looking at one of the very advanced seals of Oji-sama, the ones which hurt to even look at, as the stoic form of Itachi Uchiha was revealed.

There was curiosity in those eyes with the three tomoe, no doubt something about his sensory capabilities but for now, Itachi, being the good boy that he was, just stayed quiet and waited for his orders.

“Just…get Naruto and meet me at the Clan Compound. Tsunade’s called for you anyway,” He sighed and with a thought, the water surrounding Shisui’s mouth dissipated into thin air, as Itachi disappeared and Shisui looked at him with an excited smile on his face, “Last one to the compound has to bring the Dango. You know how cranky he gets after his treatment.”

Before he could get a word in and tell Shisui that is exactly what he was going to order Shisui to do, the Shisui in front of him dissipated into thin air, telling him that Shisui was already gone, leaving behind an afterimage in his place. His senses pinged Shisui already halfway to the Clan compound, and already accelerating with Itachi, headed to the Hokage Rock along with Naruto, though he could see Itachi not seriously pursuing Naruto, perhaps because of the treatment and how much Itachi hated said treatment.

Sighing in defeat, he was about to head to the Dango store, the one that Itachi liked, which was all the way over on the other side of the village, when his eyes caught the silvery glint of a hair, as an ANBU jumped from the rooftop beside him.

In a split second, his defeated look transformed into an excited one, his entire body language shifting on the spot as he jumped towards the ANBU, body brimming with energy. Kakashi, sensing him coming, just began hightailing it out of the space, doing everything he could to get away from him but he was not having it!

Coincidentally, Kakashi chose the direction of the Dango store to run away from him, making his grin wider as Water Chakra coalesced mid air, forming balls, whips, bars and whatnot, all in a bid to stop Kakashi but then again, this was Kakashi he was talking about. The Copy Ninja, who was using his Sharingan, to anticipate the change in chakra mid air before dodging his attempts to bring him in.

“You know, Kakashi,” He said mid jump, “The more you use that eye, the more incentive you give me to just capture you and hand you to Tsunade for your regular checkup. You know what she will do if you miss a regular checkup,” He said, grinning as he watched Kakashi freeze for just a tiny moment at the mention of Tsunade and her infamous temper, especially when she saw her patients skipping regular checks.

Tsuanden’s infamous style of just beating the shit out of her patients, before healing them and sending them on their way was well known throughout the shinobi community. Actually, hilariously, it was one of the leading reasons why sparring within Konoha never went too far and shinobi on missions rarely, if ever took any undue risks because going to the hospital was fine but if they had a really severe injury and had the misfortune of Tsunade being in the hospital that day?

Well, let’s just say that he had heard grown men scream as Tsunade used her perfected healing techniques on people to inflict as much pain as possible, all the while healing them back to perfect condition.

Kakashi froze for just a moment but even that was enough as one of the water balls clipped his shoulder, making him stumble right into one of his whips, which wrapped around his ankle, and then rose up in the air, making Kakashi dangle mid air.

“Mah-Mah, interfering in ANBU duties is a serious crime, even for a Clan Head, Nawaki-san,” Kakashi dutifully informed him as he used a variation of the Water Prison Jutsu to immobilise Kakashi, chakra included, but left his head out so he would not suffocate inside.

He scoffed at the empty warning, “Yeah? Well, tell that to someone who cares. I know for a fact you just came back from a mission debriefing and were told to report to me but what do I see? You gallivanting on the rooftops, ignoring official orders. Do I need to remind you how severe the punishment is for that?” Kakashi remained silent at that, which suited him just fine. Kakashi was never one for speaking too much anyway and the short words anyone could get out of him disappeared after that day.

He internally sighed at that, creating a Water Clone to get the Dango, while he took Kakashi back to the Compound. In a way, it was his fault, for never really getting to Kakashi but what could he do back then? The kid refused to stay home, was officially ANBU and wished to go on back to back S-class missions. He protected him all he could but even that protected period of isolation had been enough for Kakashi to just distance himself from everyone.

The only time they could get him to interact with people was when he had to come to Tsunade for his regular checkup for that Sharingan. Non-Uchiha were just not suited to bear the Sharingan and use it, especially a fully matured one, so Tsunade had to do periodic check ups and even heal some nerve damage from time to time, because Kakashi, being the idiot that he was, never took warnings too seriously.

By the time they reached the compound, Kakashi had already covered himself in a thin layer of chakra, separating the jutsu’s hold on his hold, and was just waiting for the right time to flee, only for Might Guy to come flying through the trees surrounding the compound, breaking through multiple tree branches.

The sight of Might Guy with six gates opened, someone who was a foe few could match, with a steaming kick print on his chest was enough to make even Kakashi stop for a bit, momentarily forgetting his escape attempt.

That moment of distraction turned even longer as Might Guy summoned his advisor, Ningame, a turtle and then he, along with Kakashi, watched in stupefaction as Might Guy used his summon as a platform, before Might Guy shot back into the compound by kicking the turtle, tree branches breaking apart on contact, fist pulled back for a devastating comeback.

He winced as a devastating shockwave rang out from the ground, pushing the trees to the brink before they straightened themselves. Thankfully, they were all older Hashirama trees, stronger than the other Hashirama trees around the village, allowing them to bear the blow with ease.

Slowly, he trapped Kakashi into another layer of Water Chakra to trap him, foiling his escape plan, as they jumped from the clan compound walls, the barrier flaring to life as it recognised his signature, and allowed them entry.

He jumped in the middle of a clearing and his eyebrows shot up in the air as he saw Tsunade or rather, the state of Tsunade’s clothes, with little bruises on her hand and face. He mechanically turned to the side, to see Might Guy, smoke coming off of his suit, slumped over, having been smashed into a tree.

“Tough fight?” He asked as he walked towards her, releasing Kakashi from his prison because there was no need for that now. If Tsunade came to know that Kakashi was avoiding treatment. Well, let’s just say that having to source limited edition Icha-Icha from around the country only got more and more expensive, especially since Tsunade seemed hell bent on destroying any copies she found in their community of close knit shinobi.

“No,” Tsunade said, her hands and face glowing green as all the bruises and cuts faded away, along with the rather nasty swelling near her knuckles, “Not tough per se, just persistent.”

She then walked towards Might Guy, strings of green sprouting on her back and stabbing themselves into various parts of Might Guy’s body, lifting him up. It looked very disturbing, especially since Tsunade was keeping him aloft only using strings that looked like they were stabbing into Might Guy. That, coupled with Might Guy’s dangling feet, might have scared off someone seeing it for the first time.

But he was more than familiar with Tsunade and her advanced medical ninjutsu, which also included these chakra strings for multi person healing at the same time, allowing Tsunade to just rush through battlefields, heal entire squads before jumping to the next, making her a very vital asset to Konoha.

After almost a minute, which really highlighted the extent of Might Guy’s injuries, Might Guy’s eyes fluttered open, a pained groan leaving his lips as Tsunade, apparently satisfied with the level of healing, promptly retracted her chakra strings and dropped Might Guy on the ground, drawing yet another pained groan from him.

She then turned around, walked past him and then he was treated to the sight of Chakra strings abruptly coming out of her back and heading towards Kakashi’s face, who, understandably, leapt back. Who wouldn’t?

Unfortunately for kakashi, Tsunade always got her way and within seconds, Kakashi, in a similar way to Might Guy who had hobbled his way to his side, was hung mid air, chakra strings stabbed in his face and his abdomen, as Tsunade performed her regular medical checks and checked if Kakashi had overdawn himself with his signature Lightning techniques or not.

Whatever it was, it seemed to satisfy Tsuande as she hummed and then dropped Kakashi who landed on his feet and then bolted from the Clan Compound, not even wasting a moment to actually socialise, as Might Guy, “Kakashi, Wait! My Eternal Rival!” also half ran, half hobbled behind Kakashi.

Shaking his head at the very interesting but also very strong duo, he turned to Tsunade, “So? He’s fine?”

Tsunade sighed, “Yeah, he’s fine. A little strain on his chakra network from using his lightning techniques but he is getting better day by day plus his body is getting used to the burns.”

“I see.” So, he shouldn't be having any issues with the backlash from his very strong techniques soon enough.

“Where are the brats, anyway? The noisy one I found and pasted him into a wall already. The silent one and Naruto are still not here.” Tsunade asked him and true to her word, he passed Shisui, who was now stuck in a wall nearby, half his body in the house and his head outside. Shisui, being the menace that he was, was not worried in the slightest about his predicament and was sipping on juice and reading a book, with a small table full of assorted foods to his side.

“Sensei! You made it!” Shisui waved at him, a bright, blinding smile on his face as he offered the glass towards him, “Juice?”

“No,” he shook his head and laughed at Shisui, always the joker, “No, I’m good. Also, when will your habit of being punted into the walls stop? You do know I will send you the bill for this wall as well, right?”

Shisui waved off his concerns, “Pssh. You love me too much to do that. Besides, if I end up being homeless because of it, I will just mooch off of you,”

He snorted at that, Homeless? Shisui? The guy made more money than he knew what to do with, feeding everyone and their grandma whenever he had the chance, since the only things of note in his life was being a shinobi and helping the village, aside from getting stronger, that is. Shisui was not going to run out of money anytime soon.

Just then all three of them looked to the backyard as Itachi jumped over one of the walls, Naruto hung over his back, shouting in joy, “Wooohoo!”

“Tsunade-sama, Nawaki-sama. I have returned with Naruto,” Itachi bowed to them, Naruto taking the opportunity to jump off Itachi’s back and trying to tip toe his way to safety, hoping that he would not gather any more attention.

Unfortunately, “brat!” That strategy did not work out as he called out to Naruto who froze before turning to him, smiling nervously once more. Nawaki knew that was just an act anyway, so he beckoned the troublemaker.

Naruto looked down, making the best impression of a child waiting to get scolded and then cry. Alas, he had always had a soft spot for Naruto, his adopted son, and no matter how many times this happened, he would never have the heart to actually go through with any of the punishments he made up for Naruto in his mind wherever he was subjected to one of his many pranks.

Sighing, he began, “Naruto, I–”

He never got the chance to speak to him as Tsunade took over, being the far more strong person that she was as Chakra strings took hold of Naruto, though he noted the intensity and brightness of them being far higher since Naruto intrinsically resisted any foreign chakra invasion, likely because of the Nine Tails, and held him high up.

“You brat! I still haven’t punished you for defacing my flower garden. Come, you’re on worm duty today!”

“NOOOooooo! Save me, Oto-samaaa!”

He snorted. Now he remembered his father.

That only left him, Itachi and Shisui, who had long since freed himself from his hole in the wall situation, standing in the backyard.

Just then, his water clone returned, holding onto a large bag, full of stuff. He took one look at them, at the nearly ruined backyard and at the hole in the wall behind them, “What? What did I miss?”

He just chuckled at that, as Itachi silently rushed forward and took the bag of Dango before retreating into the house, barely waiting to get inside to devour his favourite snack.

“Don’t eat all of it!” He had to remind Itachi who was serious and dependable all the other times, but never when it came to Dango, “You will need it after the treatment.”
