Were gumroad codes okay? what's your opinion
Added 2024-01-26 20:21:35 +0000 UTCHope you all are having a wonderful day <3
Before moving forward with new content i want to ask you all your opinion about the gumroad codes mechanic
do you like it?
should i continue to distribute content this way?
if you did not like it, how can I improve it?
my goal with Gumroad codes was to achieve the following:
making sure you call can keep the avatars even if you unsubscribe from Patreon, that way you can also keep the updates for free.
preventing people from subscribing once, downloading everything and then unsubscribe, I feel that is so unfair to everyone that has been supporting my work for a long time.
please feel free to comment and say anything that is on your mind regarding these, after all its my duty to reward you all for your support and i want to do it right.
Thank you!

good point yes, having the avatar in your Gumroad collection is way easier than digging around in Patreons buggy and lethargic UI

2024-01-26 21:32:45 +0000 UTCnew supporters are something i do actually want to improve, i plan to remove the old avatars and send codes for them slowly, so when that is completed, new supporters will technically not have anything "new" to get right away and that is something i don't like, definitely something i want to address early on but i don't know how yet.

2024-01-26 21:08:05 +0000 UTCi am okay with reviewing individual cases like, if you had lets say a 2 or 3 month streak and then your subscription was cancelled a couple days earlier i would be okay with sharing a code for these cases.

2024-01-26 20:45:55 +0000 UTCPersonally, I think it meets the goals you outlined, and it does feel better from an "do i own this avatar" perspective - as long as it's not too much stress on your part to do, I personally don't have any problems with it. (EDIT: Although, seeing Kaxel's comment, it does make me feel a little bad in one particular situation: if I've been subscribed for a while, and my payment failed in a given month where you're releasing an avatar, then I paid for that month too late to be considered an active patreon to get the avatar, that'd kinda feel a little crummy.) Even for new subscribers, they've still got a very good back catalogue of avatars they can get immediate access to (even if they might not be new), and then they'll get access to your newest avatars as long as they continue to subscribe.
