2023-06-02 23:35:45 +0000 UTCoooooof i knew it was coming and it was still so painful to read. i’m so glad you included carter’s thoughts here — i think we often forget that kids can initially sense something is not right and are visibly uncomfortable. you portrayed the shift in his attention so well, but that one moment of fear and wanting to go home was so important to represent. please take your time yaa you’re telling an important and very real story, but you are more important ❤️

Maybe his dad was some kind of abusive? And they way he is is partly becouse to some trauma? Or was he jealous that he wasn’t in team with star? And now he wants to have his own? (As carter) Also the thing he said about "making stars" gives me bad feeling. Maybe Carter has more in common with wayne than we think. Or young lance. I don't know I just think like there's more death to it.

Thank you for doing so anyway tho, it feels really good to have a character in media that I can relate to like this since hypersexuality and using sex as a coping mechanism is often vilified. Take care, Yaa!! And take as much time as you need for a break! Your health and wellbeing comes first. :),

I don’t think either are a—holes for this though, especially the father who isn’t even there but at work? The mom works at home, but maybe if she’s that busy and they’re that financially well off, I’m surprised she doesn’t get a proper babysitter…. At the end of it all though, I don’t think most parents even associate such horrors to be connected to their own child, especially in their neighborhood where as carter is VERY far from home since he snuck away.

2023-05-08 02:25:09 +0000 UTCThis was definitely a high pace and anxious chapter, also the way he washed the whole situation with a ‘reward’ of information and (not)possible connections was stomach wrenching. Gosh I can really see how revamped Lance’s role is in here. I’m not saying that this sort of trauma creates problematic behavior as an adult nor is it the direct cause, but it’s really executed well how Lance has groomed Carter over the years into being an anxious person and desperate to please kind of person. I hope Lance gets some light shed on his disgusting predatory ways; who knows what else he’s done to other kids. I wonder if this is his first offense done out of impulse or if he has a history of it. The way he handled it really quickly makes me believe in the latter.

I really saw so much unused potential with Lance's role in the old version, when the HOCKEY SETTING serves as such a typical environment where kids have to trust an outer-family adult. Where they crave someone's approval for their skill and are also dependent on them treating them fairly and to not abuse the power position. It's also an real-life issue making the news often, that these situations enable child abuse with long-term gaslighting. So I'm glad I made this change, even though it makes writing and drawing these scenes even harder, because the darkness is even deeper vowed in this time. But I hope I can rest up and tackle the comic with new motivation later on :'-D!

2023-05-07 04:12:07 +0000 UTCThis was so hard to read – I can't imagine how difficult it was for you to draw. But you do such an amazing job of depicting grooming and gaslighting. One of the hard parts about this scene was realising I would probably be just as clueless and trusting if I was in Carter's shoes at that age. I think this change in their relationship dynamic from the original was a very powerful and good choice, because this time Lance has an even more obvious role as an authority figure who can easily manipulate a young Carter who is just trying to impress him and prove himself at Hockey. We can also see how this manipulation will be an ongoing process once Carter joins the team and that Carter will have a complicated, close relationship with Lance, likely blaming himself for the grooming without realising he is a victim of it. It is very well done and heartbreaking. Please take as long as you need before continuing the story!!

D: Am meisten mad hat mich die Szene mit dem Bild am Ende gemacht -____- Carter wär vielleicht nie wieder gekommen und hätte seiner natürlichen Angst vertraut. Und Lance WEISS das. Deshalb hält er ihm basically seinen unschuldigen Kindheitstraum vor die Nase, um das schlechte gefühl zu überschreiben. Was für ein Arschloch!
