Suburban Sit + Status

So this took a little while to get done. I was aiming to get this sorted before the 17th, which was my birthday. Thought it would be cute to time it out that way. Now onto the status update:
Anyway it was all going to plan until one of the pipes in the house burst and was pouring water through a lighting fixture in the bathroom. As it turns out ALL of the pipes in the house are brittle and a ticking time bomb, due to a very poor product that was used when it was first built, which is now well past it's "life expectancy." So we need to get the whole house re-piped.
So kind of spent the bulk of this month helping out with fixing holes, helping to plan and dealing with the mental anguish my mother has been going through trying to deal with this and organize everything. So it's been "fun"
I truly hate bring this kind of stuff up, but the truth is a lot has been happening and it does have a huge impact on the work I can get done. So I want to be honest with you all, but I also feel like the circus is coming to town every other fortnight. I worry it comes off feeling like excuses, but it's just what's been going on.

2024-03-26 19:02:36 +0000 UTCYeah it's a product that's basically made of this stuff. We're still waiting on a quote about just how much the replacement piping is going to be. Need to check with the insurance about it too but from what I understand they have their asses covered with this specific product (water damaged in general due to several waves of issues that happen in the 90's) So we'll probably be shit out of luck and just swallow the cost. WHICH YOU KNOW, FEELS GREAT

2024-03-26 16:13:58 +0000 UTCapologies if this is stuff you're already aware of or dug into, but if those pipes are Polybutylene (pb-1) pipe, there's been a lot of class action suits and stuff about em all over the world. I dunno what verdicts were made in Nz, but there may be subsidies, rebates, or incentives available to help with replacement with PEX piping.
