Oh man it's been a while since we drew Sesam, we miss them! 😭 Can't wait to draw them in the story again!
We're finally getting ready to send out Constellation rewards! It's been a chaotic few months for us with moving and everything but things are finally settling down and we're ready to catch up! I'll be sending these to print today, and we'll be mailing them out as soon as they come in. :D If you're a Constellation patron, or were one after Dec 2023 be sure to check your address! 👍✨
In other news, we are about 25 pages into the next arc and I am getting so impatient to show you all where the story is headed! ✨✨✨ Starting a new arc and a new setting has really lit the flame of our storytelling hearts and it's just so exciting to be able to explore these characters in ways we couldn't have in the 1600s. I don't want to spoil too much but the character and relationship arcs are so delightfully tantalizing, prepare for a second slow burn with added intrigue. ✨👀 We always felt this part of the story is when Raz and Sulvain really develop their relationship and it's so fun y'all... I cant even. And they haven't even met yet! Ahhhh I wish I could finish this chapter this week!
ANYWAY. Enough rambling, I'd be so tempted to spoil and that's no fun haha~
This month Novae turns 8 years old. 10 if you count The Ring of Saturn and Inhabitant. It's surreal to think we've dedicated a decade to this story. I remember when Jen and I were writing the story back and forth from China to New York. We'd get up early and stay up late every day so we could write together before bed and and work. Thinking back, it's still one of the most joyful things we decided to do. Can you believe we were writing the 70s by March 2013? The story has changed and developed a lot since then, but it still retains that excitement we felt writing in our early 20s. We're so glad we decided to share this story with you all, it has literally changed our life.
I wanted to take a moment to thank you all so so much for your support, your excitement and all your thoughtful comments. Reaching the end of the the first arc has been such a nerve-wracking experience. We knew it would be a shocker and we were scared of what readers might feel once we reached the time jump. It was such a relief to see your excitement when we got there. I know many dear readers have felt differently, or are still recovering from the whiplash, but we thank you for putting your faith in us as storytellers. 💖 For those missing the whimsy of the time period aspect of Novae, just wait till we get to see the world of the Morgana ✨👀 I promise this arc has even more magic than the last.
Thank you all so much for reading Novae. Your comments are such bright spots in our day and help us so much more than you know. We are often riddled with doubt and anxiety about so many aspects of our lives, but seeing your thoughtful and funny comments really brings us a sense of peace and purpose. You were part of my university days and now my work days. You were also part of the journey from me moving to a safer, more queer-friendly country as a trans person. Novae opened so many doors and possibilities to me, that in the sea of toxic historical romance media, there were people like us who live very human, beautiful lives. You and the characters are really good role models. I'm not very good with words atm since it's 8am here so i dunno if that makes sense, but either way thank you for existing, and making such a beautiful thing for us

I think a lot of us can relate to having writing partners when we were younger (I used to write Harry Potter fanfiction with my best friend by passing a notebook back and forth between classes in middle school) but to get to have that relationship for so long, supporting each other while you shape the foundations of a whole new world—so, so special. And the way you write means so much spontaneity and sincerity comes through with these characters. They feel totally inhabited—having real conversations instead of just saying what they need to to drive the plot.
