We've been sitting on this secret for 7 years.
We'd drop little hints here and there with the pride drawings and illustrations, but yup.
It's canon.
Novae has officially entered the 70s.
Slight spoilers ahead
...
This arc will be filled with all the romantic tension that comes with rekindling flames. We'll be learning more about magoi, the dendronian scholars, Hargrave and his heartbreaking past with King Author, Sesam and their turbulent relationship with the Morgana, and Kitty. But above all else, Sulvain and Raziol will be learning more about each other, and the lives they have lead while they have been apart.
But for now, neither knows the other is alive.

We'll be taking a small break while we prepare the next chapter, in the meantime we'll have more "Pinned" bonus comic pages and more "Boyfriends Everlasting" to fill the gap~. Really looking forward to the next chapter y'all like, I can't even explain. The dynamics between the characters have changed in a oh so delightful way. Anyway, more soon!
(And for those who have read "The Ring of Saturn", yup, it's canon. We'll post the story here soon now that the secret is out.)
Also, we totally understand if y'all have mixed feeling about this twist! It's completely understandable, and we thank you for putting your faith in us. We hope y'all learn to love the setting and character dynamics of the second arc as much as we do!

Not really a guy that watches/reads stuff in more modernish settings at all... BUT I love Novae and all the magic systems etc that are in place, and of course our two boys!!! 2024-06-11 18:04:52 +0000 UTCWe’re sorry for the shock Noel! ❤️🫂 We knew there was a big possibility this time skip would be very upsetting and tbh we were very nervous about posting this update for that reason. When we told some friends about our plan we got very mixed reactions too, so we totally understand. In the original script the 1600s was much shorter but we found we got so attached to the characters we just kept adding more to the story, and it ended up being longer than planned haha… but the 1600s was always meant to be their beginning, and everything that comes after is what really makes them grow and become closer. So if anything, please take comfort that they have never stopped thinking about each other, and if anything the absence has made the fondness grow and the desire to know each other more intense. The kind of relationship they have is not something that can be easily forgotten and replaced after all 😉 I know since it’s a webcomic it takes so much longer for the story to come out so the sad parts are so much more drawn out, but we have a lot of fun planned for the 70s and we hope it will be enjoyable to watch them navigate their relationship. We totally understand your feelings and we hope you are feeling better. Sending you so much love! ❤️

I did see that movie, and yes, I was really upset at the ending too. He fought so hard to survive, to stay sane, just to go back and realize he had lost everything and was not the same person he once was. I agree that the thought of, 'All that, and for what?!' crossed my mind. sometimes I think like Vivi must have, all of the trauma and separation could have been avoided if Sulvain had listened to her instead of running off in the heat of rage and passion. Their story would have been so different had he made a different choice. Not only his story but Vivi's, Sesam's, Raziol's...everyone. Sulvain put himself and his needs last over everyone, but in reality he was what kept all of his friends together. I don't even want to think about Raziol finding someone else to love. But then again, I can't stand the thoughts of him being alone this whole time either. As you said, it makes sense that everyone would move one, especially if they don't know the other still lives. And how will they come back together? How will they work through feelings of anger, sadness, and loss that have festered for 200 years?? 😔 I know angst is great for story plots but damn if I don't ache and cry along with them. I am sad that your traumas are being triggered. I have trauma and anxiety with change so I am also on edge for what's to come. Novae has been my therapy and my escape for a long time. I hate that you are crying. I hope you have someone there to comfort you. If not, here is as close as I can get friend 🫂🫂❤️❤️

I remember seeing all the extra art and when Raziol turned vamp I was like oh that makes sense and here I thought u were just having fun imagining them in modern times. I never saw this one coming. I'm gonna need to sit with this one for a while. It's a lot to digest. I don't know how to feel about it but I'm also freaking excited. Damn so many questions!!!!

2024-06-11 03:38:54 +0000 UTCyou’re right, neko! i’ve been thinking about how to express my thoughts, because that’s why i added the “sort of”— they didn’t end their relationship, but if neither of them know that the other is alive, over these past centuries they must’ve given up the hope of an encounter, then picked it back up, then lost it, then found it again… because the uncertainty of whether they would meet again or not must’ve left them both so lost. and, if i recall rings of saturn correctly, raz does try to meet new people! he flirts with the protagonist… but he’s also still in love with sul, or more like his memory? because that’s my other point: neither of them are the same person they were before! they’re still the same at their very cores (‘what matters is you and not the state of you’), but their dynamic has to change because they’ve changed. so when they meet again, i don’t think they’ll dive into what they had so easily. they’re going to have to know each other again almost— and the best way to explain that in my head was the exes-to-lovers dynamic!! there’s history and some tension charged in there, but they still won’t know if the other still feels it too or if he even wants to (in this case, it’ll most definitely be a yes, tho :9)

I have so many questions… about everything! So I guess the previous events happened in 1673, and Sulvain awoke in 1756 (83 years later…). First of all, where was he being kept? Some kind of crypt, I imagine? It looks like a house though or something. Did the embalmer have a family business and her descendants just kept his body safe in a glass coffin? Did his body just need to repair itself on its own or did he have to do something in Death’s realm to be able to return after all that time? Then I guess he was just living his life for the next 220 years? Looks like he awoke in the years leading up to the French revolution (and the American revolution if Raziol is indeed in America). There was also Napoleon, the building of the Eiffel Tower, and so many other things in just France alone. Did he stay in France or continue his wandering? I wonder where he is now in the 1970s? (Hopefully wherever Raz is!) I also have to wonder why he’s living in such a tiny apartment? That’s more than enough time to amass some wealth again… lol. But who knows… Or maybe he is in transit and traveling? Then of course I can’t help but wonder where Raziol has been during all this time and what he’s been up to. Did he never see his father again? What about his mother? Are the others still alive? I know you had said the other characters all have arcs, but does that mean they would be in flashbacks? I guess we have a lot to learn about what has happened in all that time. I also have many more questions about the Ring of Saturn. If I recall, the story took place during World War I, when Gustav Holst was writing “The Planets.” (Sometime around 1915-1917). I think they were in London. Although it focused on the woman playing the piano (Miriam I believe), I also remember there was a character named Rasim Rahal (or something like that), who looked just like Raziol, and we see someone who looked just like Sulvain working in a pharmacy. Now that it is confirmed that they WERE actually them, are you telling me they were right near each other and didn’t know it during that time? That breaks my heart so much even more. Fun fact: “The Planets” heavily influenced John Williams when writing the music for Star Wars, Harry Potter, and more. Really looking forward to the next chapters, but I’m even more looking forward to the bonus comics. I think we all need them!
