Happy New Year - Here's To 2022!

On behalf of all the Jaboody crew I just wanted to wish you all a very Happy New Year! 

First of all - What we do would NOT be possible without you guys. We would not be able to function at this level and would definitely have to downscale quite a bit if it wasn't for you guys here on Patreon and everything else you do for us. Thank you all so much for allowing us to stretch, experiment and mold our content.

2021 was a year of more experimentation with our content, being very reflective, and setting our goals into action. We have done more adjusting and refocusing this year than ever before and towards the end of this year you guys started to see a bit of that energy and planning form into action. I cannot wait to see us move into the new year with this more focused plan of action - I think we are gonna make you guys real proud and knock out some killer content! We always aim to out-do ourselves so 2022 has to be big!

A few things set us back here toward the end, getting Covid and all that (thanks for the well wishes, I am almost 100% better and no one else caught it), but as soon as everything is cleared up we are going to hit the ground running!

Special thanks to all the boys. Pops is always working on some modded, upres'd dopeness for us to check out on future streams, and always thinking of new segments for us to try out live and he keeps the VOD uploads going strong. Damon is still takin time off to tend to things outside the show but helps me all the time find stuff to dub and with editing. And Lewie is super energized about our plans for IRL content in the future, he is too funny in segments where we get the camera out of the studio!

Projects and goals for 2022:

Dubs: I have found that with Dubs I really want to keep them coming steadily but with more quality > quantity. I have set aside quite a few hours a week to just sit with an edit and get it back to being silly/fun. That's when we made the best stuff, not too serious, just trying to make ourselves laugh... Playing with an Edit / Sifting and looking for the perfect thing to dub can eat so many hours up. I can't tell ya how many nights I have sifted through old VHS tape youtube channels scouring for anything that looks free of copyright/has dub potential.. your guys' suggestions have helped a lot too! I have quite a few things backlogged and a current edit of a 70s Japanese Spider-Man dub that is preeeeettty lengthy. I need to cut it back a lot in order to get it out in any kinda timely manner. A big part of me wants to get back to doing really short dubs too so the breaks without upload don't drag on too long. Overall, in 2022 I want to nail down the dubs balance more - wanting quality but not hanging unattainable perfection over its head to the point that they slow down too much - it's a tricky thing to balance but I think you guys will like what's to come!

Movie Commentaries: Doing commentaries have become our favorite thing to do on a weekly basis here on Patreon. It's all our love of dubbing & podcasting wrapped up in one. In the new year we hope to keep this going strong and yes - get into more Neil Breen. Also - There is nothing I would love more than to have sync'd up video highlights of our best movie moments, but with copyright the way it is - I would hate to loose that work / potentially our other channels to take that risk. Dub It Out: This year Dub It Out faced a lot of youtube blocking / copyright striking (nearly lost it completely around April, we actually had 2 strikes on it and it was ready to get deleted so we had to lay off for a while) and then having Damon step out more made us set this series on a shelf for now. On our Twitch Stream we do lots of react, some days dedicated for react content where we essentially do the same thing but avoid stuff that would get channels shut down. It's been tricky to figure out... but I have some ideas to bring Dub It Out back in a more controlled, safe way in 2022.. Going to take some time to figure this one out.

Stream: Toward the end of the year we really, really put some thought into how we stream. We have so many different lanes of content that we felt spread us kinda thin so we wanted to focus up everything we do and just bring that variety live into the twitch stream. Moving into 2022 you will see aspects of our AFP Podcast (which we love having you guys submit questions for) and Dub It Out come to the live stream. We also really want to get out Highlight channel focused up, to give you guys a better way to find/watch our content that we do live. We have a lot of plans for the stream in 2022 - LOTS of experimental content to look forward to!

Music: Earlier this year I was lucky enough to be featured on Nas & Hit-Boy's Album Kings Disease 2! And because of that I decided to gather some VERY talented folks within this community to start creating a music project. I'm looking at getting together a 7-10 track project and finding a way to do it all legit and on all music streaming platforms. You guys of course will get all the downloads. I have 2 producers and a actual master/mixer who records some big hip-hop names in LA on board! We have one song pretty much done right now - it felt just like making a dub. I have plans for how I want to drop the project and have a fun way to roll it out... As far as sound - think the "Bonk" song / any songs I made as "Darnell" from GTA RP but an entire standalone album. Keeping it very silly and not too serious but with a professional sound. It's been really fun checking in with how the sounds are coming along, and jotting down jokes for the songs every week. At this rate, I'd be stoked if we could drop this project sometime summer 2022! I'm also filming snippets of the creation of the songs so hopefully by the end I will have some kinda behind the scenes for you guys to enjoy.

Art: I believe it was the start of 2021 I had plans to begin filming some higher production style art content - debuting episodes live on stream and also creating its own youtube channel.. Well, I now have an entire room I am decorating as a set and building it up! This would be very much Bob Ross meets Angry Video Game Nerd style content. I'm really aiming to get this up and running in 2022, it's something I have wanted to do for a while now.
