Here's a mech that we redesigned for use in the upcoming Legends II book. While we've greatly expanded our selection of mechs that cover famous pilots of all eras, most of them are still limited to earlier times, with a distinct lack of dark age era mechs. So now we're hitting them, which I'm sure will pay off nicely as time goes on when the miniatures line creeps into such eras.

Dale Eadeh already had a decent personal redesign sculpt, but I wanted to work things over more, so I acquired that asset to use as a base and draw over from there. This also had the benefit of being able to use that original sculpt as a proportional base for the final 3D model, saving time again.

Working on this I noticed there was a big difference between the original concept and cinematic sculpt, against the sculpt that actually became a clix miniature and influenced later art, including CGL art. The original had the flat section at the front of the torso, and not a mere dome of glass for the cockpit. Losing both of those aspects hurt the look IMO, so I integrated those back in while massaging the rest into place.

I faced off against one of these at the gencon Masters and Minions event. It's a fun missile platform, peppering you at all ranges, culminating with a hellish barrage of LRMs, SSRMs, and HE ATMs once you get up close. The lasers are no slouch either.

Dale is the master of taking positively atrocious DA 'Mechs and making them appealing. That whole era was tainted by a design philosophy that seemed to begin and end with overly geometric, very simplistic 3D models. Reading that they actually had concept art is shocking. The gross little stick joints and awkward bad-90s-action-figure looks are gone, and if it weren't for the recurring DA visuals (diagonal lower-leg debossed lines, exaggerated torso vents, grid style armour paneling) I wouldn't guess this was a DA design if I just saw it for the first time. I like this.

Wow! There weren't many mechs that were more messed up than the Tundra Wolf and this looks fantastic. Makes me so excited to see what you come up with for the Jupiter! (Hopefully a variant for the Jupiter 3 as well)
