Phoenix Hawk Lineart

More housekeeping art time.
This one is pretty simple, updating my old Phoenix Hawk art to have the current version of head and chest plate. Alan Blackwell and myself took on the task.

The original lineart was made long before the first kickstarter launched, and by that time I was no longer happy with the sculpt, especially the head. Those of you who have been patrons for several years might recall my post about that head redesign.
Matt Plog made new Phoenix Hawk lineart for the kickstarter, but I was also asked to update my old piece to match, to have both options.

And here we are. Enjoy!

Yep I've been meaning to start posting those concepts.

I must say that CGL is pretty good at keeping a lid on things.. the Proliferation Cycle ForcePack totally came out of the blue. Any chance of seeing some concept art now that it's unveiled pretty please ?

TIM STRAUVEN

I believe the mini does have slightly thicker lower legs than this art, but that was a non critical change for this piece.

Anthony Scroggins

No new mini, but something something print media :)

Anthony Scroggins

No this is just a refresh of old Phoenix Hawk art from before the KS to match the mini that came out of the KS, the older version of the CGL Phoenix Hawk had a much more blocky and pointed head and a less pronounced chest

I love the P-Hawk simply because I love Robotech/Macross. I think your interpretation in your line art is outstanding. However, one thing I notice when I let my gaze slide down the picture from top to bottom, when I reach the legs I have the feeling that it's a Wasp or a Stinger and not a P-Hawk. The lower legs are somehow so thin and so inappropriate to the massive upper body. The foot activators do not stand out from the lower legs and thus the legs look like a rectangular box without accents. Would it be possible to make the calves 10-20% wider in relation to the thighs and the foot? Also, would it perhaps look better if the armor was accentuated more on the outside of the lower legs? More "Armored Veritech Fighter" than MWO, so to speak.

Anthony, because I am a brick and a lack of coffee this morning. Is this sculpt being re-released or is this for something new?

Scott

I like it, looks aggressive

I like this picture much better than Plog's.
