IS Support Lance Renders
Added 2020-10-18 05:34:18 +0000 UTC
Here are the individual shots for the IS Support Lance. A bit of an odd collection of mechs, certainly similar to the Clan Ad Hoc star as a "fit whatever is left" for the kickstarter. But there's something in here for most people. A command Cyclops, the famed Thug, a great need of Kuritan Dragons, and the rare but iconic Spider.
All designs by myself, though plenty of reference towards Bishop and Alan's previous Thug work, and the Dragon heavily references Marco's Succession Wars TRO cover.
-Thug and Dragon sculpted by Alan Blackwell.
-Cyclops sculpted by Eliza Gibbs.
-Spider sculpt effort shared between Alex Immerzeel and Alan.
That's helpful, thanks.

Love the update on the Dragon, nice chunky boy. And the pose itself is a fantastic update to the mini. The current metal mini feels too much just like "lump standing around."
The Spider too, love the update. This one feels like a little speedy boy running around, especially with the pose update.

There's a facebook group for Battletech Buy/Sell/Trade. Can always join there and see who would bite for whatever exchange.

I did note people selling plastics on ebay. But seriously, 45 bucks canadian for a plastic Shadowhawk from the A Game of Armored Warfare? I'd think you'd agree that's a rip off. Then again I was thinking that I could offer to trade mechs I don't want for ones I do want. For example I don't like the Catapult or the Locust. Maybe I could put the Cat up in exchange for a Shadow? Think that someone would bite?

While you can get plastic singles at conventions through CGL booths, it's unlikely they'll sell singles online. The problem is each pack is built into a single injection mold. Clearly each pack has mechs with varrying levels of demand, so what they'd end up with is the most popular mech in a pack selling out, and the least popular mech growing a surplus.
This pack is a perfect example. We can sell endless Dragons to Kurita players, but the Cyclops, Thug, and Spider would not have nearly as much sales.
IWM will be the source for when you only want 1 or 2 minis from a pack, or if you like metal. Otherwise but the whole packs and sell online the extras you don't want.

I hear about them so often I never thought of their rarity either. But the funny thing is the people who're most likely to use them and the people that complain they're too rare to be given a mini, are a single circle venn diagram :D

Will keep that one in mind for extra angles. Also keep in mind it's got 8 appendages and 8 jump jets for the theme.

It seems more n more likely that CGL is going to go the way of Games Workshop with high quality all plastic minis. The question is will they start selling individual mechs for players who want to customize or double up on some mechs without having to buy 3 others they don't need, want OR have room for? Heres hoping.

I really like that Thug. BTW I asked a question earlier. All these lance and star squads are gonna be released as box sets of 4 and 5 if I'm not mistaken. Are all the minis gonna be made of plastic?

It's funny, between a local guy who liked to use a Spider in "Sure I'll teach you Battletech" games back in the day and the fact that one showed up in the first Stackpole novel it never occurred to me that they were supposed to be rare.

Can we get some different angles of the spider? I fear it has lost its spider web pattern which gave the mech its name.

Thug, Dragon, and Zeus all have cylinder shoulders in all their art, IIRC. This new batch look great.

Thug and the Dragon look too much alike for my tastes.

Great set again with the Dragon the clearly the best (for me). Although it is very sad that the Witworth didn‘t make it.

That is a weird looking Hatamoto :p
As a servant of the Dragon it pleases me to have what I'd consider to be a Kuritan lance in one box

Pretty excited to paint that Cyclops. Said it before and will say it again: This is the best Dragon design. Ditto to Thug.
