Progress

A bit over 8 years ago I completed the piece on the right, the final step of a little Marauder redesign project I took on for myself to see how the design could be pushed forward from its unseen roots.
From there I hit the Warhammer, Rifleman, and Archer. Eventually those concepts would grab Catalysts attention... and the rest is recent history.

Now I've got the fun task of painting the same scene over again, which I've wanted to do for a few years now. Wolf's Dragoons instead of Grey Death Legion this time.

Which Marauder is your favorite?

Grey Death forever.

William Janak

I really dig the new piece and the little Marauder II in the background.

Have to go with the right side. Love the red

I'm sure the lines are just there to set the trajectory when the actual projectile is ready to be drawn. As while the Marauder is complete, the II behind it is still WIP, and so is the weapons fire.

Malintus

Have to say the left side is my favorite. Will the PPCs be getting a more dramatic "lightning" effect? They look a little odd being the same as the lasers.

The left side is my favorite.

James Hauserj

I want to see the whole Damn Thing! :-D

Robert Moore

Left side for sure! I love how the mech has transformed over time and become more refined. You can see it top to bottom.

Alexander J De Santis

BTW I like the idea you had for the Marauder better especially the cockpit and the way the autocannon is mounted. CGL should of used that one imo.

Tyler Erickson

I think new lore will have to be built around this scene.

Anthony Scroggins

You'll see similar, though more aggressive looking PPC beams on the left one when it's finished.

Anthony Scroggins

Yep, will be a full remastering. All official designs this time, more of them, higher detail.

Anthony Scroggins

Patreon comments sections are definitely designed for general chatter only.

I love the Succession-Wars-esque heraldry paint scheme. With the unseen 'Mechs it feels very retro. Dragoons on the moon...could this be the counter-invasion during the Jihad on Luna? Did I imagine that or did that happen? Or perhaps an ilclan thing...too much lore, getting confused.

David Razi

Definitely the left. It's got the shoulder turbines, the narrow viewport, and the big ball ankles that harken back to the original.

Terence Harris

Having just completed my first company for my Wolf Dragoons Alpha regiment Clan Invasion era AS Battalion I am going to have to go with the left side picture. And I love the Marauder II in the back ground as well! I can't wait to see the whole picture!

Robert Moore

Definitely the Marauder on the left, the helix shaped PPC blasts look distinctive and less generic.

Trevor R.N.

Ah so it is a variation of the pic you have in your ShimmeringSword account on DA?

Tyler Erickson

MY favorite is slowly turning into the new Marauder II. It's just so... Beastly.

Raymond White

can I not attach pictures here?

... doesn‘t matter, both look great, however I‘m still a fan of the old model, especially this one https://images.booklooker.de/x/00qU0X/William-H-jr-Keith+Der-Preis-des-Ruhms-BATTLETECH.jpg

at first glance the one on the right, at a second glance... the right one is missing the „turbine engines“ at the side back...

The newest one on the left

Great side by side - I like them both, but see much artistic growth on the left.

I prefer the redesign, (using swen's nomenclature) but the 'shimrauder' is a close second, so far in front of the battledroid (Ducks hurled projectiles) & unseen PP miniatures.

Of all the Marauders (not II or IIc) out there... i call them: Battledroid, Unseen, Phoenix, MWO, ShimmeringSword and Redesign; id take the Redesign. I honestly never was a great fan of your ShimmeringSword version, although i really liked your archer and rifleman (rifleman also rules supreme). I always found the shimmeringsword marauders torso to be too chunky and long, which is a thing you can see better in your other works on that design.
