Hunchback 3D Render
Added 2020-05-25 06:47:25 +0000 UTC
Chris Lowrey just finished up the Hunchback model. Came out great right?
Still needs to be cleared before a full turntable is done, but I wanted to show off a test still shot he did.
Don't you really mean "Step into my 9 hex force field and feel the pain"? :-D

I LOVE IT! Perfect action pose for my him! He is screaming "Come at me Bro!"

I'm always a sucker for a low-tech solution to a high-tech problem. Some OSL is going to look amazing on those battle-blinds. I imagine you'd see this pose just before you get brown pants.

Just a thought... The whingers could always mark or paint one edge of the base a different colour to show facing. It's what i did when I made a balls-up and mounted a marauder face on to a corner of the hex

It would look so much better if the base were rotated 180ยบ!
Actually... how much control does your team have over base orientation? Are they attached by machine, or by manual labor?

Yep, a low tech simple solution to keep a little damage away from the ferroglass.

Or he can do both. For artists, variety really is the spice of life haha.

It's getting somewhat close to facing a corner, THAT MUST MEAN IT'S ABSOLUTELY ON A COMPLETE DIFFERENT FACING!!! :D

I gotcha, more of a response for those that might have similar feelings, as I do see it as a concern that is brought up often. More than likely the torso will be slightly off absolute center even in the final version, but we'll make sure that we do what we can to make it clear which way the front-facing is.

Anthony,
This, is perfection!
This hunch back looks like a brawler, and is THICK!
I love the hunch back but the old modals looked like it skiped leg day,
I see it is also still rocking the windo shades on the cockpit. ( that is what this are right? ) classic

was hoping the winky face would be enough for people to get I was making fun of one of the biggest senseless whinges almost every mini seems to get , but I guess not.
Facing is easy. It's called paint. be it a simple red stripe on the base, or the hazard stripes some people used (or the mini claymores "front toward enemy" that I intend to use).
Limiting poses based on perfect facing (torso and legs same direction because easily confused) is IMO pretty dumb.

Like Anthony said, pose is going into review so Iโm sure that is going to getting scrutinized. But in general, Mechs tend to look a bit more dynamic if their torsos arenโt 100% flush with the facing edge. Obviously we want to avoid it looking into an edge corner or another facing and causing gameplay confusion, but typically you can get away with about 10-20 degrees of rotation off absolute center and still have it read as a clear facing edge. Especially if you also have one of the feet clearly pointing to an edge like this one does.

I was worried that it was going to turn out scrawny like the art looked. The render looks so much better than the art. Maybe Chris should stick to 3D work and stay away from game design.

That is the best Hunchback I've ever seen. I love the pose!

I like it, but the torso appears to be ...2 degrees off a direct frontal facing, so I don't think I'll be able to tell it's facing on the table........

Okay faith restored. I really did not like the artwork for the Hunchback, especially compared to the IIC version, but this looks awesome.

Favourite mech gets an awesome re work, and a wicked pose to boot. Well done to all those involved!

Excellent stuff, I love it, I'm so looking forward to getting all these Mechs in plastic in my hands, I've dropped a ton of cash on this KS, focusing on maximising Mech procurement...I've also noticed over the last several months a continual increase in people taking up the game and painting the miniatures...

This pose demands a large muzzle flash. Very nicely done, not only dynamic but also kind of mech specific.

Very cool dynamic pose - seems as if the Hunchback is bracing just before firing the AC.

Now that is an awesomely dynamic pose!! Really gives an action feel to it. More poses like this please!
