Hunchback Concept Sketch

Here's your close in bruiser mech! While this guy is fairly deep down in the mech list I tackled it early in preparation for doing the Hunchback IIC, which I'll post next.

I had my old Quasimodo base model as a proportional reference, which I had used on an old commissioned painting of a Hunchback (same as the source on the new Catapult). So I was able to grab that art, greyscale it, and go from there. Same process as was used on the Timberwolf, Atlas, Shadowcat, and Summoner too.

And after much internal debate, we get to keep the cockpit slats! One of the few times I'll fight for a Mad Max detail :)

I never realized those were slats in the original art, and am unsure how I feel about them. I guess I haven't seen a ton of Hunchbacks. This is definitely top notch.

I feel like the torso should be bulked up a bit. And I think I liked the cockpit windows in the teaser picture more than in this one.

Liking the upper legs here. The current model always feels weirdly flat on the upper legs. Looks good here.

Personally I like it more without the slats, but otherwise I'm super hyped!

First and foremost - I like it. It really keeps a lot of the old TRO visual cues in the arms and legs, which were a subtle thing that made the Hunchback unique! *Now getting to the "this is just my opinion of questionable value section* Once the 3d model starts coming about, I would personally like to see the top half scaled up a bit. The original HBK was designed after Chun-Li, and as hilarious as THICCCCCC legs were, I think the original TRO looked dopey as mess. This one doesn't look like the Mistress of Street Fighter by any means, but I think bulking up the chest and left shoulder (maybe with a little armor cap like on the HBKiic?) would look neat? Even if all of these opinions are tossed out with the bathwater, it still looks really cool, and unique! I like it!

Looking at the bulkyness of the legs and torso it seems he needs the ac20 to compensate for a rather compact "lower torso segment". *blink* Jokes aside, very nice design, awesome cockpit.

Classic. Perfect.

There he is, everybodies old friend beautiful 50 tonner that you pray never gets behind you. And now he's shiny, new and looking like cash money!

I hope the chest sticks out a bit. I like a barrel chested hunchie.

Nice one. Glad you kept the cockpit slats, makes it look more like a hunchback and less like an industrial mech.
