Poll: Would this interest you in being a paid Patron

I'm thinking of making changes to my Patreon Tiers, and wondering if people in the Free tier were interested in these options.

oh also, if you offered a $25 or $50 dollar tier to add a character I'd probably spring for that for 1 month. I'd prefer a reoccurring character obviously but would even throw in for a cameo.

Ricky Kukowski

I spend $50 per month on patreon. I change that between several different authors. based on a few criteria. Some authors get many months some only a few. Here are my main points. 1. writing quality 2. chapter satisfaction (does each chapter finish a thought or do they tend to leave cliffs especially unnecessary ones). 3. chapter length 4. regularity (I like to know when to expect my next fix) 3&4 combine to make weekly word count matter, but I personally prefer a few longer chapters than many tiny ones as it increases my satisfaction. 5. cost (I only spend $50 per month total) 6. number of weeks ahead. I tend to prefer 10 weeks ahead or more. if you release 5 chapters a week that's 50 chapters. if you do 2 that's only 20. 7. most up to date. I will never pay for a subscription that isn't the most up to date. your current $5 for 10 of each will never be on my radar. for me it's either the $10 for 20 of each or nothing 8. does my brother read it. he uses my patreon account and reads a few stories that way. I'll still drop them but I take it into consideration So, for you that's my debate. I currently only read Butcher of yours. I'd probably drop changling and calamitous Bob from mecanimus to read Butcher if I chose to move over. I've subscribed in the past and probably average 1 to 2 months a year at the $10 value. I'd most likely average 6 months a year at $5 for Butcher. (in 3 month stretches with the other 6 months going to Calamitous Bob until that ends.) so currently, you probably average $15 a year from me and if you added a $5 for max Butcher chapters you'd instead average $30 a year from me. it's not huge but I'm being realistic and honest.

Ricky Kukowski

I understand his point, but personally disagree. I remembered this poll and today decided to make the $5 for 20 chapters of Butcher but I see that's not up yet also this reminds me of mecanimus's pat scale

Ricky Kukowski

I've been waiting for exactly this kind of option. I don't want both stories and it's a bit too pricey ATM for just Tunnel Rat

Thanks for asking. Glad to share mine.

Kellen Clifford

Got it, thanks for the feedback. Trying to understand everyone's point of view.

Michael Clark

Yes that’s about the measure of it! 5$ for cutting edge in both

Kellen Clifford

so 5.00 for 5 chapters ahead was good, but 5.00 for 10 chapters ahead isn't, if the higher tier is 20 chapters ahead. Got it. Just trying to understand why some people were so unhappy with the change.

Michael Clark

I also have a set (well, a goal anyway ;) ) budget for Patreon. I usually rotate out my high dollar read all the chapters subs, trying to spread them out over different months. Five dollars, however, is my price point to just leave subbed all the time. At that point, it’s more a matter of are there enough chapters per month to make it worth while. I would give it a go at five dollars as a recurring sub over a “binge those chapters, and come back later” sub…..

Chad L.

Well it used to be both ahead for both books. That’s what I’m about. To me 20 chapters and 10 chapters are no different. It’s about the most recent chapter. It doesn’t make sense to pay more for what we already had.

Kellen Clifford

Of which story? And again, Explain please: If the change to 5.00 for 20 chapters ahead gets you the most recent chapters, how is it "A massive downgrade"?

Michael Clark

It’s not about amount of chapters ahead. It’s about being on the most recent chapter for me.

Kellen Clifford

Explain that. It's a choice of 5.00 to read 10 chapters ahead of both stories Vs. 20 chapters ahead in one story. I've had a lot of people ask me for it.

Michael Clark

5$ for 1 when it used to be 5$ for both seems like a massive downgrade.

Kellen Clifford

Free tier because I went half a year without reading a release. I've started catching up again, so I'll likely go back to a paid tier once I've caught up.

Beelz

I will be buying both Tunnelrat and TBOG when books come out on Audible and might buy TBOG in physical book form (I really love the story). At 5$ I might leave TBOG on the paid tier if there are enough weekly chapters. Otherwise I will be cycling through once a decent amount of chapters have accumulated.

Stoffel

Exactly... so none of the above?

Redbreaker

Yeah that’s what I do as well, and I’ll always come back to the everything tier

mapts

I'll join again when I have a tiny bit more money, but Tunnel Rat only would be great for me.

Loz

I just have a set budget for patreon per month, and cycle between authors, I was happy with the setup you had when I was a member, at some point will probably sub again.

John Cliff

I'm happy staying in free tier for now. Just made sense financially for me. Though that might change later this year.
