AD-Free Episode 475 - All Transfer Rumors Are True

On this edition of the Arsenal Vision Post Match Podcast Elliot (@yankeegunner) is joined by Tim (@stillberto) and Paul (@poznaninmypants) to discuss transfer rumors! First up is the Buendia move to Aston Villa and whether the group considers it a missed opportunity. Next up is Ruben Neves and whether he’d be a good fit and an exciting addition. That leads to a small discussion of Arsenal generally being good or bad operators in the market compared to what other clubs are doing. There’s a brief discussion about Xhaka leaving and a summary of his time at the club. Then there’s some additional news items including Balogun getting a chance to compete for his place in the team next season and what that means for Lacazette and Martinelli. All that and more on this edition of the Arsenal Vision Post Match Podcast.

Thank you Clive & Elliot for another educational and positive treatment podcast

Yeah sorry guys about my rant yesterday. ;) Just want to say I love how the pod brings sense to it all and how it brings us fans together in difficult times, thanks!

Maybe it's just me - but... I'm hoping that a 'Midfield Unit' is found - Partey + a Dm/Fast/Energy player, who can ball carry to compliment Partey + Deep lying playmaker, to upgrade on Xhaka with more speed, press resistance and preferably 2 feet - whose skill/tech/intelligence compliment each other so that the 'Unit' functions greater than the individual parts. A traditional number 10 is too easy to double-up on and mark out of the game - a solid unit - with these attributes that can distribute the ball or carry it to, our front 3 - should create a good variety, quality and number of chances and XG

Jesper you put it exactly as I thought. Also, I like neves but again I fear about him getting run on the counter too

Conclusion on the Buendia stuff is again we're not choosing. We lack vision, identity and dont know what we want. We would be ruthless right? Also the fact that Buendia chooses Aston Villa over us, whatever their plan was, tells you where we are, and its very very painful. Then Ending up with Odegaard is everything I don't like about Arteta, composed, technical but nothing to get excited about... Yeah, when the sun is shining on a maybe..? To commit to next, lesser version of Ozil signing for 50m on a 5 year deal...? Nightmares. Stats predict Buendia is going to explode and will look a steal while Artetas boys are playing the ball around. I know one transfer is not the end of our club but man I'm disgusted by our stupidity for 10 years. We can't even make a the most obvious transfer work. So in Odegaard we not only choose the worse quality player over the two, the wrong type of the two, but also the player that is more expensive and Real Madrid want to milk all our money for? Incredible.. I've been positive for many years but this was too much for me..

I like listening to your podcast because you never drop all the way down to the pit of negativity. It´s more positive then most of the online stuff, with just a sprinkle of negativity here and there. Most of your negativity could be called reality anyway. Anyhow, thanks for always seeing a silver lining and good content.

Love the content as always, I always love / hate this time of year for the way our club is just dragged through every mudhole that any player is trying to climb out of....but in the mud there are a couple of really good players who would really push us forward. Neves is a solid player. He is the wheelbarrow of the team, you ever hear anyone getting excited about a wheelbarrow?? Despite the fact it carries all the shit.

Just for the record, I would give those minutes to Martinelli

Don’t forget Auba will miss at least a month due to the AFCON so are we gonna give those games to either Martinelli or Balogun if Lacazette leaves

Excellent convo. Just a thought: what if a realistic scenario for an Ødegaard transfer is a £45-50M fee with a buyback clause? It would functionally be a glorified loan since we would benefit greatly from having him here and Madrid would pay us a net £20M or so for recalling him a few years after if they (i.e. Perez) are so inclined. I personally would be okay with that solution.

You guys talked like Xhaka to Roma is done. Not seeing that level of definition from the more reliable sources...

"Wolves dreadful to watch"... they beat us though

Cleveland native here. It was just the river that caught on fire, but it caught on fire 13 separate times and not just once.

Emi Martinez to Emi Beundia... " nah don't go to Arsenal my fellow Argentinean, club is a shambles"
