You won’t solve discrimination, debt, over leveraging, racism, mental health or the climate with this brand on colonial venture capitalism. The wealthy should be investing in the world and indeed football at a time when the world is on its knees not seek to take more out

The irony is like you were saying, the champions league has got worse ratings since bt bought out all the rights. Why? Because if shakthar vs Porto was on terrestrial tv, people would watch it, but if it’s behind a bt paywall then why bother. We really need to make it clear to footballs owners that their meddling and buyouts are compounding the sterilisation of the sport. Small games make the big games more important, Real Madrid vs Arsenal may happen once or twice a decade so when it comes around everyone will engage with it. If it’s several times a season, I’d say u got 5 years of intrigue before ratings fall through floor. These CEO’s are like the asset strippers of the 80’s. Artificially boosting share prices for a short period of time whilst gutting out the internal structures that made the company effective in the first place. We need a Netflix for sports maybe?

The economy is not zero sum game so there can be billionaires without poverty (in absolute terms) and hunger.

So many brilliant points raised 👍 as someone who was dismayed at the amount of people (young people?) replying to REDAction's Fans Forum updates saying 'ask about transfers', the point about transfer trumours being accessible but the actual football not, was great. Thanks gents

Maybe Arsenal / Barca years ago would have had big billing but not now . No one is going to watch that with our quality of football.

Possible answer to Tim's question - why was ESL rushed out - is that the plan was leaked to UEFA - see Rory Smith in the NYT - so Perez, et al, were forced to move quicker than they wanted to get ahead of the game. Which worked well!
