How Clive can pick Ceballos as a stock down is utterly beyond me.. If you look at our highlights, our best moments pretty much all went through him (offensively and defensively). If Partey was the one doing the things Ceballos was doing, everyone would be raving.. The players setting the tone, taking too many touches and slowing us down were Luiz and Xhaka.

Watched the game with my flat mate who’s a Spurs fan unfortunately. He hates to admit but even he can see we’re playing really good football at times. We’re still our own worst enemy though. that’s not just the players, but arteta also. He really dallies with subs, it plays a part in our tame finishes to games. P.s the saka goal has convinced me that football should get rid of var, I agree with Rooney! Life’s too short for this delays after goals bullshit. Even if it gets things right, it’s ruining all the small pleasures of the game. A player like Bruno Fernandes plays the game for var calls and im sick of it. I think vars only purpose should be analysing and punishing reckless and dangerous play.

When Xhaka and Ceballos play together we just don’t look smart. I think one detracts from the other and we don’t get the sum of all parts. Partey makes others better - Ceballos makes himself look better at the cost of others and the area. It’s how he plays. He likes to show his talent above everything. Now if that talent catches your eye you can see why people like him. I tend to look at the whole team and the overall game recognition

If you look at the passmap Xhaka is sitting on Gabriel's toes, again. Hard to see why you couldn't drop him out for Pepe and play a midfield of Ceballos at the base and ESR and Ødegaard as free 8s's.

6/9 final 3rd entry passes for Ceballos versus 2/5 for Xhaka. Thought one of them looked to play it forward and the other was dragging us back into the defensive third.
