AD-Free Episode 425 - A Failure That Has Many Fathers

On this edition of the Arsenal Vision Post Match Podcast Elliot (@yankeegunner) is joined by Tim (@stillberto), Clive (@clivepafc) and Paul (@poznaninmypants) to discuss another loss, this time at Everton. The group covers the first half abomination, a second half where Everton sat off, and whether this squad is sitting where it belongs in the table. There’s a long chat about the structure at the club and the commitment to mediocrity. There’s focus on Willian’s performance and Arteta’s quotes about deserving to win. Finally, Scott (oh_that_crab) joins to give a statistical context to Arsenal’s malaise. All that and more on this edition of the Arsenal Vision Post Match Podcast.

Clive, Barnes is not a central midfielder and Guendouzi doesn't play a jogging game... Nor did West Brom go down after Barnes's loan was cut short -- they were already in the Championship.

If there are some players in the squad causing bad vibes then maybe they should train alone. I mean if it’s Ozil , Papastathopolous (👍🏼) or anybody else like that then they shouldn’t be training with the squad, especially as they aren’t registered. The only high profile unregistered player who should be training with the team is Saliba!! FFS play this kid before we lose him, likewise Balagun!!! Cheers boys

Thank you for the lively discussion it helps get me over the shit form we are in

I keep hearing we have to sell players to free up spots on the roster. In the US, the team would simply cut the player and pay off the contract. There is zero reason Sokratis or Ozil need to take spots after this window. #goodbye

Why does Tim keep saying we didn’t sell players cause it was a covid market when we literally turned down concrete offers for players, Wolves offered 15m for a player we spent nothing to acquire, granted they definitely lowballed us as they did 40m on Semedo, who’s crap. I feel like people aren’t taking into account the size of the job was so big not just due to the size of the club and fan expectations but the fact his first window basically had to be perfect as far as outgoings and it was the opposite

Elliot lost confidence in Arteta way before I did, but I disagreed because I thought that the intelligence and adaptability that Arteta showed last season would save us, and now that it seemingly has left him, I'm agreeing with pretty much all of what Elliot's said here. I think the Vinai-Edu-Arteta combo is failing, and a smart, reliable change is needed. P.S. I was the last person to want Emery out last season because I'm a very 'needs more time' person, and I was the same with Arteta for a while, but we have hit a wall and are dying while the rest of the PL is moving forward.

a lot of these problems are the idea that we have no money. saliba's not good? let's keep holding instead of buying a good CB. don't have money for a good wing or creative midfielder? get willian he's free. see the problem is Kroenke and the idea that this squad is almost good enough and needs a few short term fixes, when in reality the squad is a mess. full of pensioners. just got to try to keep the good young ones, which will be a challenge now

I'm not sure I'm ready for almost 2 hours of this, but here we go...
