He's a Stark (ice) and Targaryen (fire). He's also a descendant of Rhaenyra so her dad chose the right heir....hope that helps ❤️

2025-11-17 17:43:57 +0000 UTCAlso one note on the Godswood (sacred areas surrounding the weirwood trees that have the white trunks and red leaves)... these are the sacred trees across Westeros that are believed to be connected to the Old Gods. In HOD, there are still many around, and many of the castles have at least one weirwood tree/Godswood. Although, even at this time, many of them have been cut down. But by the time of Game of Thrones, there are even fewer across Westeros. Stannis Baratheon made it a point to cut down many weirwood trees, for example, when he converted to following the Lord of Light. In GOT, there are only a very few in the south. The majority are in the north, where people still pray to the Old Gods (like Jon Snow, his father Ned Stark, the wildlings/free folk, etc.). If you remember when Jon Snow took his pledge to the Night's Watch, he was asked if he would prefer to do so before the Godswood, which was a sacred place for his household and for those who follow the Old Gods (and he did). Samwell, who didn't necessarily follow the Old Gods, joined him in taking his pledge there.
