Necroepilogos, tempestas - 12.4
Added 2024-08-08 04:31:21 +0000 UTCBeneath the cover of night and storm is the best place to hatch a dastardly plot; but are these zombie girls one step ahead of their phantom foes, or a dozen steps behind?

Epub of the chapter is also uploaded here, as usual!
Arc 12 thickens into a nice sloppy cake-batter, ready to bake into a cake of zombie parts and firearms and ... you know what, I forgot where I was going with this metaphor! In any case, the plot does actually thicken, things are getting mightily complicated, but I think a certain very familiar zombie is about to start untangling some of those strings.
Behind the scenes, Arc 12 is actually going (mostly!) how I expected it to, so far; though we've got a couple of swerves coming up sooner or later, as zombie girls have been laying down some track in places I didn't plan for at first. Will this actually top out at the 15 chapters I originally envisioned? Who knows! Certainly not me! Elpida? Maybe. Kagami? More likely. Shilu? Anybody's guess.
Anyway! Onward we go! Back down beneath the raging clouds, back into the tomb, to peer into those darker corners.

Of course! Wow, that does sound like the kind of long-term character development which I really enjoy reading. And no worries, I'll keep an open mind at the start of the series! I always try to do that with new books. I really appreciate the recommendation!

2024-08-08 20:00:00 +0000 UTCI will say if you give it a shot, please keep in mind that (while book 1 is very much indicative for the series in general) it's a series where the protagonist starts quite young and ages over it. She's 13 when the series starts, and isn't like, instantly powerful, but she's very much not a damsel and she becomes more and more Skulduggery's equal partner as the series progresses. They're an extremely strong platonic partnership, they're almost life partners in a way? And the series gets more emotionally complex as it goes along, especially between books 4 and 6. But by the "current" era in the series, she's in her late twenties and has a girlfriend she lives with etc

2024-08-08 19:40:34 +0000 UTCIndeed! I ran across the series while researching the word just now and it does look quite interesting, so I'm probably gonna give it a look. I love running across random pieces of media by chance, it's very nice. And thank you!

2024-08-08 19:37:19 +0000 UTCI happen to know it because I am a massive Skulduggery Pleasant fan lmao (which you might enjoy, btw! You have similar mixes of complicated female protagonist, sardonic humor, horror, and urban fantasy!)

2024-08-08 19:24:16 +0000 UTCIt's mostly because people assum that it's spelt skullduggery as in "skull-", yes, we don't really use skul- as a prefix in many other places

2024-08-08 17:28:51 +0000 UTCOh! That's very strange indeed. I always assumed it was two Ls. I did a little test and my spellchecker doesn't like the version with only one L, buuut looking it up in dictionaries shows that the two L version is a variant spelling, and it was one L originally. Perhaps it caught on and ended up getting adopted. How odd!

2024-08-08 16:52:46 +0000 UTCThank you for spotting that typo! I really appreciate it! Hahahaha. Ahem. Yes. Of everyone in the cast, Kaga and Vicky are the main useless lesbian couple. And it's not just Kaga! Vicky contributes too. I wonder if any of the other cast have had the exact same thought?
