bedlam boundary - 24.25
Added 2024-08-03 04:46:25 +0000 UTCChapter struggles down the fog-bound lane, slipping on slick-wet cobbles, searching for the door to the dingy old pub.

An epub of the chapter is also attached below!
Heather finally reaches the heart of the matter, deep in the hospital, and deep in the arc. But the revolution hasn't won just yet. The Eye's mind is still awaiting more attention. And Maisie is still trapped. Onward you go, squid-girl! You've got miles to tread before this dream is over.
Ahem! Yes! Onward we go! I'm ... less optimistic this is gonna be wrapped up by chapter 30, but it's close! It's real close! I hope you enjoy this one, dear readers!
In the meantime, I have two wonderful pieces of fanart to share with you all this week. First is a, shall we say, 'traditional' rendition of the scene where Heather first spoke with the Governor, in a style some may recognise, (by Rose!) And then secondly we have a Katalepsis version of a currently popular meme, which ended up being oddly relevant to some of the earlier events of this arc, (by Cera!) Thank you both for letting me share these here, they're wonderful!

Maisie's long imprisonment, laid out in plain text! Maybe a harrowing read, indeed, but if there are cracks in her prison, perhaps she has noticed them!

2024-08-03 17:16:09 +0000 UTCHaha, I guess so? Technically? Maybe? Not on purpose, though! Back in the original draft version of Katalepsis (which bore very little resemblance to the actual story), Heather was explicitly based on myself. The Heather we seen in the real Katalepsis is not at all a self-insert, but perhaps the echoes linger elsewhere!

2024-08-03 16:54:28 +0000 UTCYes! The Bloodborne vibes/influence/reference was fully intentional there, and I'm delighted it was so obvious. After all, the very title of the story was influenced by Bloodborne, so I couldn't help myself but slip this in so close to the end of Book One. And you know what, it often feels like Heather is staring back through the pages and looking at me. All too real, sometimes!

2024-08-03 12:28:53 +0000 UTCAlso, please be careful dear author, lest your creation's eyes should turn outward and find you. She might not be pleased to meet the true arbitor of all her hardships...

2024-08-03 05:47:22 +0000 UTCHeather is over here playing Bloodborne now. Eyes on the inside. Grant us eyes, grant us eyes. Plant eyes on our brains, to cleanse our beastly idiocy!
