2023 - New Year New Me

Hi everyone, hope the new year is going great for you!

Sometimes I feel like I'm not transparent enough with you. Often when I want to share a sneak peek of what I'm currently working on, a voice in my head says "no one cares" and I end up sharing nothing. I know that it's silly and it negatively affects those of you who actually care. So this year I'd like to try and be more open about what I'm doing and share more things with you.

I'd like to start by talking about three important things I have planned for the nearest future:

1. Public release of Motion Canvas

Motion Canvas should be ready for release later this month. I'll be posting a dedicated video announcing its release as well as a little showcase animation. The source code will be publicly available.

I'm planning a series of video tutorials for Motion Canvas. It would most likely be published on my second channel or on a brand-new dedicated channel.

I'm also considering making our Discord server public in time for the release. But we'll discuss this in more depth on the server itself.

2. Announcement of the Foundations project

After Motion Canvas, I'll be announcing a new tiny project codenamed Foundations.
It'll be a short (~30min) story-driven game developed by me and two volunteers from the community (a writer and a composer). The game will be released for free on Steam and will have a soft deadline of 3 months and a hard deadline of 6 months. Its source code will be publicly available and will serve as a demo of Typewriter.

In the announcement post, I'll go into more detail about the reasoning behind this project as well as its impact on Astortion's development.

The project is meant to be an open secret. I'll be looking for volunteers on my social media but I won't mention it in any of my videos until the release.

3. Start of Typewriter Early Access.

As soon as the development of Foundations begins, Typewriter will be made available to the Compute Tier Patrons. Early access will most likely end with the release of the game. But it's possible the game will be released first with its source code and Typewriter releasing a bit later.
