I'm not sure if you've already read that one but at least his character was more present because you were reminded weekly of him. Did it contribute greatly to his character writing? No. Was it cool nonetheless? Yes. Should he have gotten more in order to become a better side character? Maybe? Personally I like the way Oda handled Ace all throughout the story. I think the fact that he's Luffy's brother, made us expect him play a more pivotal role himself than he did. He really just enhances every one around him and makes stuff much more exciting than being the exciting one himself. He did so much for the story as a whole and I appreciate him most, in that regard.

It is literally all his choice to stay. Robin, in fact, is a DIRECT CONSEQUENCE of the actions of the world government. Need I remind you that Garp was also in active duty during the O'hara incident and is fully aware of what happened? Comparing Garp to Nami and Robin is honestly just sickening considering Nami was deadass ENSLAVED by Arlong and Robin was deemed an international terrorist by the same organization that Garp CHOOSES to work for

Sadly many anime fans are simple, and they decide things for reasons outside of what is presented. Garp is currently under immense hate. I just think many are unable to think and only see. I apologize for others. Let’s not forget Robin worked for crocodile, and Nami worked for Arlong. But we KNOW why. They did horrible things for horrible people. Are they for the bin?
