2025-11-01 15:06:33 +0000 UTCI think this season is gonna end up with a 5 or 6/10 for me on MAL. This just isn't good writing. It's bland as fuck to me. I already told myself I'm bombing the rating of the finale if All Might doesn't die, and that whole thing where Bakugo saved him was cool, but I feel he needed to pass out and die after passing on the gauntlet. Now we're gonna seemingly get some dogshit of "Deku passes the quirk on so Shigaraki incurs the overloaded muscle fibres"? No? Just no. That's not how anything remotely works. He would be tired and unable to move, still speaking of: What happened to the 2nd warning him that the next use is the last, and he's used it like 4 times since, and then even more so with massive blasts? I just can't see anyone justifying this ending being good. I'm an anime only and this ending so far has felt like a spit to the face, I cried so hard for the last 3 or so episodes of S7, Gentle's return, Dabi and Toga's conclusions were fucking fantastic, 10/10. Then we dive into this season, and Bakugo coming back is fine, it made sense how it was done (mostly). But his beating AFO is just kinda... meh? Don't get me wrong, the voice acting, music, art, and animation for these 5 episodes have been PHENOMENAL. But for me, the story took a nose-dive after Stain died. It gradually became everything I said to my friends last year that I didn't want in an ending. What I wanted for the ending would have been (using info from now): Bakugo vs AFO can go how it did, but All might dies after passing the gauntlet on and thanking him for saving him (closure to the same degree on Bakugo's feeling of having not saved him, no bullshit ruining of Nighteye's prediction, and it solidifies that in S4 Eri rewinding was not accountable for seeing the future. The whole "the wills of the people across the world came together to save All Might? Just no.) and then for Deku vs Shigaraki I'm semi-fine with him losing some of OFA that made it broken (like the 2nd, 3rd, and maybe black whip) but by this story's own logic Eri should be able to rewind him to when he had the quirks. I did expect this as an ending, but I also fully expect that this author is gonna ruin logic and not give Deku his powers back. Perhaps he will? But I don't see it. I've loved and still will love the reactions; if not for these, I'd likely have given the finale a 3/10. I'm feeling next to nothing from this S8, so experiencing it vicariously through y'all is great!

I am not ready for whatever is coming..
