We're getting somewhere...

OK - to be honest - progress is "small" today, but important.


First of all - the 3D selection menu prototype is finished. From the look&feel it is pretty much the same as the activate menu you see on the light switches and such. I know it sounds like a small thing, but it really wasn't. I really had to fight a lot with the programming logic behind it to get a universal re-usable menu that you can toggle and interact with.

Second - i finally fixed the TV. Maybe not everyone noticed it, but the clips playing back on the TV screen were distorted. I better not get into detail about how much time it costed me to fix that, but it's finally done.

Third - I've been looking into controls (again!). Despite all good concepts there was still some stuff that was wrong with the Vive controllers and teleport. And also i sacrificed left hand grab function for menu selection. So i made a new concept. At first i brought back that old function to determine which HMD is connected when you start the game. I thought I'd find a solution to unify the controls for vive and oculus - but that  simply isn't possible, no matter what i do. Both controllers have a trigger and that's it for the similarities. End of story. So from now on it will be "left controller menu" for the Vive and "left controller X" for the oculus to select something. "Right controller menu" for vive and "Right controller A" for oculus to toggle menus. I might also  need to review the teleport controls.



Anyways - I'll be rebuilding lights (Again!) and be back on thursday (SMall break).
