The band on the show is definitely meant to be X Japan (even the guys' names are based on the originals) and it seems to me that the song in Dan Da Dan is mostly influenced by Kurenai: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7Uao7lrSxo&list=RD_7Uao7lrSxo&start_radio=1 I'm 44 and i had the privilege of watching them, one of my favorite bands ever, when they randomly came to Chile in 2011. They're 50% power metal and 50% desolate ballads. I'm sure Ange will love them, they have been very influential and made some of Japan's biggest concerts. To me, they are the GOATs. If you want a couple more of their headbangers: Rusty Nail, X (literally, the letter), Silent Jealousy, Dahlia, Week End, Blue Blood, Rose of Pain.

2025-08-09 06:19:44 +0000 UTCSo if someone else mentioned this I'm sorry, but I had a total nerd moment because the band is literally a play on a genre unique to Japan that is called Visual Kei (VisKei for short). It has a wide range of all sorts of rock genres, but there is a huge emphasis on the style. Kei translated means Style. And yes, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas fall under VisKei (band that does a HunterxHunter ending). Check out some bands like The Gazette, D, Alice Nine, & Miyavi. They are fantastic!

But wait! There's more! 'Cause the guitar is played by Marty motherucking Friedman, from Megadeth! Science Saru didn't need to go this hard, but I'm glad they did.

The headbanging from everyone was hilarious, and the fact it literally turned into a concert for a bunch of ghosts was metal as hell. I also love the fact that Momo's friends are both like "these two idiots don't even realize how in love they are, so we're gonna get them together even if we have to drag them kicking and screaming". It's adorable, and as much as I feel bad for Momo in the maid cafe, I hope those two dummies just start properly dating already. Also, a sidenote, I love that they're giving Granny Seiko some new hairstyles. Her normal beehive look is fine, but something about her with her hair down or in that messy ponytail just does it for me.
