It reminds me of the theory essays that the reason Westeros is stuck in the middle ages is because of magic and dragons. If you have dragons, you don't need technology and large standing armies to defeat castles, so you lose motivation for innovation.

2023-12-17 17:06:42 +0000 UTCThe conversation also helps reveal a little more about the world- I did tell you that it takes place in our world, but given what was said about chaos and societal decay happening when quirks first showed up, we can deduce that this is probably happening in the future compared to where we are- maybe 150 years or so I think, thus the idea being brought up that they might be traveling through space if quirks never showed up.
