You know, I never really thought about how other religions feel about homosexuality. I'm just so used to the Christian bias that I guess I assumed all religions suck about that. It's interesting to hear that things like Shintoism and Buddhish are cool with it.

good old Manzou the Saw :) they are the Dutch, Homosexuality was discouraged in japan starting in the Meiji era in the process of westernization before that as far as i know it was pretty normal as its not a problem in Shintoism and Buddhism also Edo was the name of Tokyo its at the Time the seat of the Shogunat basically the Military Dictatorship of the Country thats why the era is called Edo period
