That's awesome. I think what I'll do when I revisit this movie is watch The Thing right before watching it. They really pair well.

Quentin Tarantino (who is the narrator in the movie) has openly said John Carpenter's "The Thing" (1982) was an inspiration for this movie. So much so, that he even used one of Ennio Morricone's unused compositions from "The Thing" in "The Hateful Eight". Ennio Morricone also did the soundtrack to "The Hateful Eight", which overjoyed Tarantino, because Morricone was his favourite movie composer.
