The music didn't work for me but I can see it winning the award. It was well executed and appropriate. I think I was just born a couple hundred years too late to fully appreciate the genre. LOL

The way I imagine it they are all torn between the idea of cutting off Barry forever given what he did to the family fortune/reputation and on the other hand, the idea of letting sleeping dogs lie and perhaps fear of repercussions from him if they cut off his annuity.

This movie won 4 Oscars: Cinematography, Costume Design, Art Direction and Original Score. I know you didn't like the score (I am neutral) but I think the other 3 award-winning categories are what the movie's most known and appreciated for. My favorite line is when the little pipsqueak responds to his mother towards the beginning of Act 2 saying "Lord Bullingdon, you have insulted your father" with "Mother, you have insulted my father!!"
