Show/Movie suggestion place

It was offered that we need one place for new show and movie reaction suggestions not currently being polled. This is that place. You can literally suggestion ANYTHING ... the Muppets take Mars, Xanadu, that cowboy comedy TV series that was on FOX in the late 80s ... anything.

Right now I'm specifically looking for ideas to replace Mr. Robot on tier 1 because that's coming to an end soon. But this is really an overall cross platform suggestion place.

Some details for you.  I've never seen ANY medical drama except for House. I've never seen ANY lawyer show except for Ally McBeal. I've never seen ANY copaganda show (those monster of the week procedurals like CSI etc). I've never seen any zombie shows except for I Zombie and 2 seasons of Walking Dead.  I have seen a shit ton of SF shows and about half of the fantasy shows out there. As far as movies, you'd be surprised how many "classic movies" I've never seen.

Edit: I was asked "Are you familiar the works of Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese, Brian De Palma, David Fincher, the Coen Brothers, John Carpenter, Sam Raimi, Akira Kurosawa, Sergio Leone, Woody Allen, Stanley Kubrick, Orson Welles, or Paul Thomas Anderson?" and figured this is a good narrow down question so here are my answers:

Seen all: Alfred Hitchcock, John Carpenter, Sergio Leone (I originally said I hadn't seen all his sit but I was wrong. He only directed 8 movies total? I would have never believed that)

Seen most (haven't seen in parentheses) : Stanley Kubrick (Eyes Wide Shut, Barry Lydon), Orson Welles (The Dreamers, The Deep), Martin Scorsese (Hugo, The Departed, Bringing Out The Dead) Brian De Palma (The Black Dahlia, Casualties of War), David Fincher (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Zodiac), Sam Raimi (The Black Ghiandola, Oz The Great and Powerful)

Seen little (seen in parentheses): the Coen Brothers (Raising Arizona, Big Lebowski, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, No Country for Old Men), Akira Kurosawa (Seven Samurai, Hidden Fortress)

Seen little and oh BTW Fuck him: Woody Allen

Fallout is a post-apocalyptic drama television series created by Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet for Amazon Prime Video. It is based on the role-playing video game franchise created by Interplay Entertainment and now owned by Bethesda Softworks. Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy serve as executive producers through their production company Kilter films alongside Big Indie Pictures, Bethesda Game Studios, and Amazon MGM Studios. Jonathan Nolan directed the first 3 episodes of the 8-episode season, and this really feels like a spiritual successor to their previous show Westworld albeit with more of an emphasis on black comedy as well as drama. The series stars Ella Purnell, Wolton Goggins, Kyle MacLachlan, Aaron Moten, Moisés Arias and Michael Emmerson among others. I’ve only seen the first episode so far but it’s off to a strong start. I want you to go into this series blind, so I won’t give you any details or summary on the plot. Each episode ranges from 45-74 minutes. Since this is a streaming show, I’m wondering if they’ll play around with the runtime like they did on Westworld where you’d occasionally have episodes to range up to 90 minutes.

Alice Flagg

Oh, so it's already been 3 years since I became a patron. Time really does fly.

Alice Flagg

Not necessary, just curious.

Erik Christensen

Yeah I haven't seen what's in the parentheses and also this was posted mid 2021 so any movies these people did after that would also be stuff I haven't seen. As far as what's not in the parentheses, I remember i missed a couple movies with somebody ... I thought I'd seen a couple movies that I hadn't. I should do a new version of this post with better research and updated for the past 3 years. I didn't realize this post was this old.

Dexter Goad

Dexter, for the Seen most but haven't seen in parentheses, does that mean that you have seen ALL of a director's movies that aren't in parentheses as of 2021? So it wouldn't mean the new Scorsese and Fincher movies for example but you've seen everything before then not in parentheses?

Erik Christensen

Idk if you have seen it or someone else has suggested, but Psycho-pass is good anime that you might like.

Αρσλαν Καλαιτσιδης

Sounds interesting. I'll put it on the next poll. And if I forget, please remind me in that poll.

Dexter Goad

Not sure if it was already suggested but i would love to see your reaction to Mob Psycho. It's a comedy/action/drama anime about Psychics with supernatural abilities and it is known for having great writing. It's also really creative with its animation style. It's finished, has 3 seasons and it's very popular as well :)

Moeses

I haven't started Season 3 yet. I guess I'll wait until you start Season 1.

Erik Christensen

It did indeed

Dexter Goad

Dexter--Did Only Murders In The Building win the new poll?

Erik Christensen

I would suggest FLCL for anime as it's the anime that people who have never seen an anime picture happens in every one of them. Alex Hirsch once said that "If TV is a parody of real life then TV portrayed in TV should be a parody of a parody." to explain why the show and movies in Gravity Falls were so odd and that's exactly what FLCL is but done lovingly. Mystery Incorporated was a 2010s version of Scooby Doo with an overarching story that was screwed by the network but still managed to garner a massive fanbase due to how well they fleshed out the characters and how well they developed the mystery of it all. Funny Games was a movie meant to be a satirical take on the up and coming "torture porn" genre of movie starring the actor who played James Dahrmody in Boardwalk Empire. The original version was made in Austria but the creator was paid handsomely to make an American version and they're almost shot for shot the same do not believe people's lies about the american version being worse they're almost identical. Crank is an action movie starring Jason Statham that is an over the top love letter to action movies that's equal parts ridiculous and amazing. also somewhere in here I have to throw in that The Amazing World of Gumball has an overarching plot that's so hidden in the background that most people think that it's episodic Lastly there's Venture Bros which has a kinda weak first season then you see it make massive leaps in quality with every passing season. The premise being "How exactly did world's like GI Joe actually function?"

the unbearable weight of a massive cock aka D 4 C

I still think your anime journey needs focus, watch Parasyte its short and powerful

Flander Genetics

I Claudius (1976) starts right after Rome ends - got Patrick Stewart and Brian Blessed in it The Caesars (1968) covers the same period of history as I Claudius with a different focus (can be found here https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYvqnf3rH4Xnhmqr-Qcc3IT55IQgR14N8) Invincible, based on a comic by the creator of The Walking Dead; , I don't usually like super hero stuff but i loved this. Made in Abyss is the best anime of 2017, only 11 episodes long Odd Taxi is the best anime of 2021, only 13 episodes long Puella Magi Madoka Magica is a great 2011 anime, 12 episodes Trigun is a great 26 episode anime from 1997, recently got remade, the original is way better IMO Arslan Senki is a 25 episode anime i have NOT seen, but it's based on another novel series by the author of legend of the galactic heroes, so it might be great!

paul cook

I can only recommend the original UK version of Utopia. This show was way ahead of it's time and the soundtrack and cinematography are amazing. There are also no reaction videos that I could find. The version on Amazon Prime has a lot of cuts and the wrong aspect ratio but you can find the whole uncut series on Youtube. The opening scene is great btw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8Vu3Hyv_Vk&list=PL_jIDr2tZiuRHlp-bLwYNgWaFAp6dR7_Y

Dennis Hebert

You is a psychological thriller television series based on the books by Caroline Kepnes, developed by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble. The series follows Joe Goldberg (played by Penn Bagley), a bookstore manager and serial killer who falls in love and develops an extreme obsession. Each season has a rotating cast and takes place in different locations. After the first season the show develops into more of a black comedy as opposed to a "straight thriller" and is pretty much a "spiritual successor" to Dexter and has a lot of references to the show with one of the characters even comparing Joe to Dexter at one point. So far there are 4 seasons totaling 40 episodes. Jenna Ortega who you recently saw in Scream and Wednesday plays a main role in season 2.

Alice Flagg

The White Lotus.

Roy Koopa

Anyone else would like to see Overlord, the anime? It lost some of its demand recently but a movie and potentially next season will come out mid 2023. I'm sure lots of people would love to see your reaction to that.

Also, when you get to Attack on Titan, you may want to build up at least through season 2 (or a large build up of episodes) before putting any on YouTube, and/or get mods to police the comment sections, people are terrible for spoiling in this series

Ariel Causey

Even though it’s been mentioned… Attack on Titan

Harold Raymond Payne

Thank you! I was going to suggest this too. I'm currently rewatching the show to prepare for season 3 on March 25th. It's up there as far as quality TV goes. Also, Donald Glover just continuing to find ways to cement his legacy as a true icon of this time is always fun.

ivan

Got it! 👍

Alice Flagg

did write another one

KlausBerndUWE

Are you sure? Because I don't see anything.

Alice Flagg

mail is out^^

KlausBerndUWE

done will write you soon as i get the address i guess :)

KlausBerndUWE

DM Dexter for my Gmail address and then send me a Gmail, that way I'll have your address and you'll have mine and we'll be able to communicate much more easily and privately.

Alice Flagg

to bad you dont get a notification or what ever and cant write dms to people on here...was just luck that i checked this section yesterday normaly i dont read the comments on this post xD and it was not too late he is doing the japanese dub, my plan was too pause my logh requests and do some One piece in hope that it will become like HxH independant of patreon support dont know how many i would request before i go back to logh. so if you only wanted to request ep4 you can leave it for me, if you want to take over the One Piece patreon front you can and i go back to logh :D but its your decision

KlausBerndUWE

Hahaha that's hilarious!🤣 I also hope it's not too late. Btw what's your plan here? Were you going to request more episodes for Dexter to react to, or was this a one time thing? I'm curious because I want Dexter to react to episode 4 of the show, but I want to know what you were planning first.

Alice Flagg

i demanded sub, dexter :P if its dub im out^^ damn i hope it isnt to late would be a shame

KlausBerndUWE

I can do more with dubs so that's my preference unless there's a reason to do the sub. I have access to both versions, but right now the plan is the dub.

Dexter Goad

Out of curiosity are you watching the sub or dub did Klaus specify?

Alice Flagg

Sounds good I've heard a lot about it. I'm also doing the first 2 episodes of One Piece due to a Klaus demand.

Dexter Goad

With Hunter finished, another anime that is pretty top tier that I think you would enjoy is Attack on Titan- I know you’re planning to do Death Note, which is good and I’ll definitely watch with you, but if you don’t mind or even enjoy watching a show that keeps you guessing and theorizing, and answers questions with more questions it might be good after Death Note or as space opens up in your schedule.

Ariel Causey

You should give Trailer Park Boys a try. It's hilarious, has a pretty big cult following and I've only found 2 very small channels on youtube reacting to it.

Daniel Marcos

You should watch the Ken Burns The Civil War documentary mini series.

Alice Flagg

You should watch the new Netflix animated show Arcane.

Alice Flagg

I am just seeing this comment. It made my day ❤️ thank you very much I cannot wait to check it out

J. White

I have just completed the first season of Reservation Dogs, and What We Do In The Shadows and I think both are full of so much charm and love and are severely unreacted to!

Steran

For some reason I can't find any worthy reactors doing Atlanta so hopefully you can capitalise, it's definitely worth the viewing and has some nice influences from great shows like Sopranos and Twin Peaks etc.

UndaSkore

You talked me into it. I'll do the pilot this week and see if it gets any traction on Youtube.

Dexter Goad

I Wil alwaysl ask for you to react to Atlanta. Season 3 will be out soon!

J. White

It's always sunny in Philadelphia and the midnight gospel

Yo Él

I've heard of that. I'll put it on the list.

Dexter Goad

I just thought of another one because I started watching it recently myself. Money Heist (la casa de papel in spanish) is on Netflix. I highly recommend it. I am in the middle of season 2 now. The 5th and final season starts in September. I watch it dubbed in English and can't complain. I love it and look forward to the next one. They cut each episode off with a good cliff hanger. Sorry if this is too late.

Samantha J

This would be a good Patreon series because I loved the pilot but it got savagely blocked by Youtube no matter how much I edited it.

Dexter Goad

Raised by wolves

floridaman

Ghost Stories (Dub) - 20 episodes. The dub has a very interesting history.

Alice Flagg

It's been so damned long since I've seen that. I need to revisit that at some point, but I'm keeping pretty busy with reactions these days.

Dexter Goad

Would love to hear your opinion as a film maker on 12 Angry Men! It’s my favorite black & white movie and the way it’s filmed is magical

zach Dehner

Atlanta.

J. White

Looks like its on Hulu. But under the radar is right, never heard of it

Dexter Goad

Saw a movie called Possessor the other day and think you’d enjoy it. It came out last year and is extremely under the radar though. May have to pay for the reaction

floridaman

I like Atlanta but I think the pilot is one of the weaker episodes honestly

floridaman

It's really short and seriously something everyone should check out. It's on Netflix.

Yo Él

Please check out "The midnight gospel" it's an adult animated series, about Clancy, he goes into different dimensions interviewing different being with philosophical themes!

Yo Él

Interesting, I literally just saw an article stating the pilot for this series was the best TV series pilot of all time. I'm intrigued.

Dexter Goad

Atlanta. This comedy series has won 19 Emmy Awards although the series is only 21 episodes long. It has won the best comedy series at the Emmys as well. This isn't just any comedy series. Also the creator, director, producer and star of the show is the guy that plays Troy from Community. Pls consider this show it's my second fave after community and easily the best thing on tv today

J. White

There will be blood. Paul Thomas Anderson

Harold Raymond Payne

I've recorded reactions to the first 2 episodes of Falcon and I'm avoiding spoilers on both shows so that I have the option to react to them. It's just a time issue right now.

Dexter Goad

I'm a little surprised that you haven't reaction to the other Marvel Disney+ shows such as Falcon & Winter Soldier and Loki considering that you seemed to like WandaVision. Do you have any interest in reacting to either show?

Alice Flagg

I don't know, I'd rather he wait till the series ended considering that the shows in the middle of it's final season.

Alice Flagg

It's a dark comedy sitcom of a group of bar owners, who are just horrible people, racist, homophobic and paint eating kind of horrible.

Yo Él

It's always sunny in Philadelphia is really good, long and still on air but you might like it.

Yo Él

Hmmmmm

Dexter Goad

After HxH finishes you should totally check out Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

Alice Flagg

Never seen that either.

Dexter Goad

Usually i can distance an artist from his work, but on this one i agree fuck woody allen. Watchmen (show) Black mirror Ozark Good place Parks and rec I love you philip morris Worlds greatest dad Ill probably add to this list just what was on top of my head I could make a massive anime list as well if youre open to it as long as films. One i highly recomend is Perfect Blue, its about a girl in a group who tries to be a solo idol......oh and its a psychological horror because japan

Its ame mario

Have you ever seen Veep? It’s an American show, it’s done by the same writers and has a similar concept

Sam Sargent

Thanks.

Alice Flagg

I thought Season 2 was great. I'm sure season 3 is also great but it pissed me off that they announced it canceled before the season even dropped. Way to take the air outta the room, jerk.

Dexter Goad

Oh yeah it's mostly definitely fuck him too. LMFAO As for your question, I'll edit the post in a couple days when I get the chance.

Dexter Goad

How was Season 2? I haven't watched the show past the first season. I didn't dislike it, but I just felt that they took too long to produce a second season and I didn't hear enough positive word of mouth to garner my interest.

Alice Flagg

What films by the filmmakers have you seen in the Seen Little category, and what films by the filmmakers in the in the See Most category that you haven't seen? Also you forgot to put Roman Polanski in the Fuck You category.

Alice Flagg

I edited the post to answer this.

Dexter Goad

Black Mirror, Watchmen (tv show), Lucifer, Stranger things, Daredevil (tv show), Ash v Evil Dead, 10 Cloverfield Lane, The good place, Misfits

Samantha J

Are you familiar the works of Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese, Brian De Palma, David Fincher, the Coen Brothers, John Carpenter, Sam Raimi, Akira Kurosawa, Sergio Leone, Woody Allen, Stanley Kubrick, Orson Welles, or Paul Thomas Anderson?

Alice Flagg

Dexter Goad

Nvm I see it in your playlist lol

floridaman

Don’t know if you’ve seen it but very interested in a watch along of The Boys. I’ve only seen one episode but it was good. I may get Amazon prime to watch with you. Seems like something you would dig.

floridaman

Huh. Never heard of it

Dexter Goad

All but Season 3 of JJ because I got mad they announced it was cancelled.

Dexter Goad

Unfortunately, I haven't watched Mr. Robot yet.

Leon Illiann

Alice Flagg

True Detective would be a great show after he finishes Fargo. I can't wait to see his reaction to season 2. And I guess Black Mirror would make an ok substitute for Mr. Robot, but do you think there are any other shows like Mr. Robot?

Alice Flagg

Have you seen Daredevil and Jessica Jones on Netflix?

Alice Flagg

yes 100% sub on attack on titan

KlausBerndUWE

Have you ever heard of The Thick Of It? English political comedy, it’s got the best insults you’ve ever heard in your life in it

Sam Sargent

If you’re looking for anime recommendations Attack on Titan might be a good one. But if you choose to watch it, make sure it’s in the original sub as the dub is known to be less than ideal and the Japanese VAs are fantastic.

Chelle

"Chernobyl" (2019) is a great 5 episode mini-series. "True Detective" (2014) might also be something you'd like. Have you seen Netflix' "Black Mirror" (2011)?

Leon Illiann

Im really love the nexflix animated shows such as Blood of Zues, Castlevania, or love, death and robots

Its ame mario

oh yes did forget about Barry what a great show :)

KlausBerndUWE

I'd really love for you to react to HBO's Barry (Starring Bill Hader) after better Call Saul.

Alice Flagg

yes you might be write, just like allways thinking and hoping that more people get behind it so i picked the usually more popular one :)

KlausBerndUWE

I'd prefer Dexter start with Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and work his way up Miyazaki's work considering that Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away are Miyazaki's most ambitious and as a result may not be as newcomer friendly. Or start with Porco Rosso for it's western setting and short runtime.

Alice Flagg

“Eastbound And Down” & “Fargo” (the movie).

Joe Boyce

ok i do some odd ones that i have never seen somewhere :) Movie: Das Boot/The Boat (would be nice to have a watch along timer or what ever based version dont really think its good for a fast edited version) Lawyer/comedy show: Boston Legal Detective/Fiction: Bosch its on Amazon Historical Drama: Rome, The Tudors Comedy: Parks and Recreation, Superstore and Anime Movies: still all the Studio Ghibli films starting with maybe Princess Mononoke so you get a feel for it(did suggest that one ages ago dont know if you remember)
