New snapshots design doc

Snapshots are really coming together - the whole thing is starting to look shockingly elegant and simple (you wouldn't be able to guess from the design doc how many years it took to get to that point...)

Will recursive snapshots be possible? That is one nice feature of ZFS!

Demi Obenour

You won't be able to create any more snapshots. So you'll be able to create one snapshot a second 34 years.

I'll have a look, but it will be difficult to be more elegant than the Rodeh b-trees used in Btrfs :-) https://dominoweb.draco.res.ibm.com/reports/h-0248.pdf

It's unsigned, so it's ~4B. I'm also curious about that.

what happens when a subvolume can no longer allocate new snapshot ids because it's gone through all ~2 billion? (e.g. because a bug in automation generates many more snapshots than anticipated)
