Body build drawing process (Quick method tutorial)

One way I do most of my drawings, is starting with the body itself. Sometimes it's tricky, when the commissioner asks for an especific type of body (which sometimes I am not used to draw), can complicate the process.

The best approach for myself to deal with this  escenarios it's to begin with something I am familiar with;

First I clarify with the client what kind of position/posture he wants the character be in and what he wants to transmit with the whole piece. In this case we want to achieve a bulky/fat/muscular body type which, if you know my art style its 50/50 what I do and don't.

After talking the character's position I start doodling the character not thinking about the body type at all. I stick with something familiar and stay in a comfort zone while getting to that pose I want. With the main structure finished I (with the clients guidance) mold the body adding fatness/muscle to the areas he points out.

And that's it.

It may sound simple but i think it's good to point out. Sometimes it's good to start with something we're comfortable drawing to get to that new label we are aiming for.

I hope you enjoy knowing a lil more how I do my stuff!

references are the key. References, references, references....

Interesting, and I mean that makes sense. Thanks for the insight! I wonder how difficult it gets if someone asks for a complicated pose, you know?
