[Alert: Starter Town Drama thread has been closed! Seeing as “Drama” was in the name, we should have honestly seen this coming. Please, instead use the regional chat]

(SoulDive’s official Forum, Regional Chat)

BertVurn, DesDose, Filegreen, FeltFelt, InkyCat, JillPill, JuneSupport, JustSamuel, KarmaMaxer, KillTheKrill, May/Hem, No2Ways, Vibez420, WizardsName, Zap2to2Zap

No2Ways: Blarg, my town’s been boring. Need a new batch of newbs to liven stuff up. Been over a month since anything exciting has come up.

KillTheKrill: Maybe if you had left with us you’d be somewhere of interest.

No2Ways: As if! You appreciated my build, hell, the team up went spectacularly. Except you managed to gather such a squad of killjoys!

KillTheKrill: We’re more than fun enough. We just don’t jump directly into the middle of it. I figured someone focused on cc and countering would be cautious or something!

No2Ways: Bah! What’s the point of those sorts of things if not to face even tougher challenges!

JillPill: You remind me of a healer I used to know. Not in this game, but an old school MMO. They’d play a healer just to be able to keep themselves alive as they explored the world.

FeltFelt: Seems a bit pointless? Just get strong enough to go there normally.

JillPill: Eh, they didn’t have a lot of time to game so they’d just do what they wanted. Seemed to work for them.

Zap2to2Zap: Found a new lightning spell! This one causes a reverse lightning bolt. It jumps from the target towards the caster. Doesn’t fit my build, but if we have anyone in here that went the path of lightning abortion, contact me.

Vibez420: What happens if someone is in-between you and the target?

Zap2to2Zap: Huh, I should test that. It was a bit ShOcKiNg to cast so I didn’t test it too extensively.

Vibez420: Yeah, that sounds like one of those spells you’re meant to be clever with. It might even be meant specifically to counter those who make ranged spells go wild.

No2Ways: I bet it would work on someone protected by someone or else under a lightning rod effect. Doesn’t matter if they draw the lightning away if it starts at them.

WizardsName: Quick question, anyone know of a good ship currently at Whale Island? Groups looking to experience the ocean a little after being in the forest for months.

May/Hem: Ocean Adventure!

KillTheKrill: May/Hem! Where’ve you been? You haven’t really been posting much since the thread went kaput.

May/Hem: I remember to check in when I get a notification of new messages, right? So guess what? They don’t message you when an admin closes a thread. And no new notifications meant it dropped off the face of the earth for me.

KillTheKrill: Ah yeah, I’ve had friends like that.

JustSamuel: Focus! What about a ship?

JuneSupport: We aren’t in a rush.

KillTheKrill: Oh, the two duos joined into a quad squad?

DesDose: A doubled duo day? Now instead of a pair, you’re a party.

JillPill: Nice to see some of the smaller groups consolidating finally. Not that there aren’t any dynamic duos rolling around. Just that most parties that have done alright for themselves tends more towards an average of five people, more towards six, but four isn’t uncommon.

Filegreen: If you discount the solo players and those who join local organizations. Oh, and if you break player guilds down to what party size, they most often use.

Filegreen: Anyway! What kind of ocean experience are you guys looking for? Because a good ship means nothing if they’re not doing what you want.

JuneSupport: We’re looking for a month or so. Not necessarily all at once, but preferably remaining with the same ship.

Filegreen: Do you want the shore in sight at all times or are you willing to go off the deep end?

WizardsName: All the fun sruff is out there, so it would be boring to stick to the shore. Now, the ocean doesn’t have to be deep, but I’m not afraid of it.

WizardsName: stuff

JuneSupport: I checked, none of us have a fear of deep water.

May/Hem: Is it really an ocean adventure if the shore is always in sight?

Filegreen: Okay, follow up on the first question. A month or at least a month?

May/Hem: Eh, either

JuneSupport: No preference

WizardsName: At least so we have more options of places to go

JustSamuel: At least

Filegreen: Okay, given your answers, you’ll want to snag a ride on a cross ocean trade vessel. In theory, the back and forth on that is a month, but no one ever makes it in just a month.

Filegreen: Also, it will take you to a place quite different from this region and give you a couple days there. Oh, and of course as it is crossing the ocean, you’ll be going over some of the deeper sections of the nearby ocean.

Vibez420: Geez, you some kind of, what’s the word? The people who plan vacations for people? Ruining my own joke with ignorance.

Filegreen: Since your group is at Whale Island, you have a good amount of choice. Though also a bunch of ships to avoid. Some idiots take the relative safety of Whale Island as an excuse to not keep up on their maintenance or weapons.

Filegreen: @Vibez420 travel agent or consultant

Filegreen: I have five potential ships that might be in port who do a trip like what you guys want. In no particular order

A male catkin named John who captains the good ship Spear Tooth

A male parrotkin named Ozzle who captains the good ship Rainbow Dash

A female iguanafolk named Sssally (yes it is spelled that way, pronounced that way, and is a purposeful joke on her part) who captains the good ship Salty Baron

A female human named Sally the beardless (also a joke, both these fine ladies ended up captain of their ships at around the same time and decided one of them needed to change their name and then both of them did, it was a thing) who captains the good ship Blue Gator

A male ratkin named Jeff who captains the good ship Pair of Twos (named such because he won it by bluffing at cards with a pair of twos, at least, that’s the story as he tells it)

Filegreen: Though if none of them are in, feel free to DM me who is around. I’ve ended up as a sort of freelance stewardess. Oh, and you won’t be able to take a job for the trip, so expect to pay 10 to 20 gold.

JuneSupport: Well, that was more than I expected.

WizardsName: Though exactly what we needed.

Filegreen: Eh, you’re just lucky to be at a major port. Anywhere else and you wouldn’t exactly have much of a choice. Two, maybe three boats and maybe none of them would want to take you for a reasonable price or at all.

InkyCat: So wait, how did you manage to get an in if we can’t go and get a job? I know we can’t, tried to meet a friend and had to pay.

Filegreen: Go through the proper channels? Like, it might not be the irl world, but it is still a world. You need some sort of proof you’re not a paste eating, mouth breather.

InkyCat: But all you have to do to be an adventurer is show up?

JuneSupport: So, to state the obvious, even adventurers have to prove themselves. Sure, you can be “an adventurer” by just showing up. If you want to rank up, though? You have to both reach the required level of power as well as complete enough tasks and be in good standing.

May/Hem: Wait, really? I thought all it needed was for you to be strong enough?

JuneSupport: Oh, they’ll confirm your rank, but to get a guild card of that rank, you have to qualify. Didn’t you find it weird that we don’t actually have guild cards? We need a few more quests under our belts.

WizardsName: Wait, neither of you have a guild card? How’d you manage that? Basically, everyone gets at least the grey card just from the time waster quests you get while stuck in the starter cities.

Zap2to2Zap: I don’t know about JuneSupport, but at the very least, May/Hem ran away from their starter city. It made quite a ruckus in the starter town drama thread.

May/Hem: Hey now! My running away was the drama. It was my existence and then the mayhem I directly caused!

Zap2to2Zap: fair

Zap2to2Zap: but yeah, that’s why they don’t have a card. Almost surprised they’re signed up at all.

May/Hem: You got stuff from them?

Zap2to2Zap: once again, fair

JustSamuel: We’re going to have to get the two of you cards in town. Good thing the guard quests we’ve been fulfilling for the caravan will count towards it. Though you can’t to this for the white card and any future upgrades! If you don’t have the previous grade card, you don’t get credit towards the next grade.

Filegreen: Yep, they don’t want idiots trying to jump ranks. Either with us players throwing lives at a problem, nobles paying their way up too quickly, or regular folks dying left and right.
