[NR] What Does That Cover? - Chapter 692

Which means the System should already know about how he had been re-conceptualizing the title’s connection to civilization.
Well, he knows of one way to check this. Besides, he wanted to see how much he has grown since the start of the undead incursion. All it would take is a quick peek at his status to check his growth and how he compares to others of his level. Information he wrote down on actual paper since the System didn’t have a notes app in game.
[
Level 37 > +6 > 43
Base stats: Strength 164 > +13 > 177, Toughness 185 > +20 > 205, Agility 170 > +18 > 188
Normal Skill point gain; 1sp:lv1-9 = 9, 7sp:lv10-24 = 98, 12sp:lv25-49 = 288; all together 395; expected@43 = 395-(6*12) = 323; 177+205+188 = 570
Civilization 0.327% > +0.156% > 0.483%

Jason looked over his notes and grimaced at his handwriting. It is also a little dense, mostly just the numbers, but it worked for this. He had gained six levels, 51 stat points, and some decent progress to his concept of civilization. More importantly, though, was how the stat gained placed him against others.
At his current level, people who didn’t mess with how many stat points they gain a level would have 323 stat points total. Well, plus whatever they stated with, but close enough. Jason is at 570 meaning he is doing alright. Though the real question being if this placed him near capping his stats or not.
Probably more impactful was actually the increase in his concept of civilization. It might not have been giving some obvious bonus like the others where they boosted his stats. Civilization provided a bonus that in the long term is more powerful.
The bonus was simple enough, a “swing” bonus of 1% for every .1% in Civilization. Jason pauses, that didn’t feel right.
{
Swing bonus of 1% for every .1% in [Civilization]
}
No, that was exactly what it said. Jason had memories of the bonus only applying when he produced things? If anything limited it, the limit would be to his knowledge bonuses. Which to a degree, would make sense.
After all, the knowledge bonuses are very specifically gained knowledge and not discovered knowledge. Oh sure, you get knowledge bonuses for discoveries, but the bonus for discovery is different. And while knowledge isn’t purely the realm of civilization, the passing down of knowledge certainly is.
Though, with how nonspecific the wording is? Maybe it does cover knowledge bonuses and production? Then again, it might simply cover a range of things.
Oh sure, the bonus isn’t going to be something silly like “everything to do with the concept of civilization”. If only because of how limited the other concepts were at the moment. Well, limited might not be the best way to describe them?
Together, Ascendance and Substance gave a complete boost to his body. Both the basic stats and the auxiliary stats, only missing out on control. Though Jason doesn’t really count control as a stat, so much as a rating of how well a person can control their NeoRealm body with their soul.
Jason pauses again before revising his definition. It was a rating of how well a person can control their existence in NeoRealm with their soul. Body is too limiting because there were things known to be locked behind control that weren’t purely of the body. Certain magical control techniques and what not.
Jason sighs and moves on. Whatever they did, it was an improvement and it seemed even the System wasn’t able to fully define it. Or at least, wasn’t able to define it in a few lines of text. Could be either.
Not too far past it, though. Since his concept improved by so much, it meant his ideas on improving his title were valid. While Jason didn’t have a good plan for updating his title, that didn’t mean there was a suitable set of tasks that needed done and could help. Jason was going to have to handle what some consider the worst kind of quest, escort.
After all, what better way to always be in a situation of protecting someone, especially in a way the System has to recognize? Why, of course, that would be to officially put in charge of protecting that someone. The real question now was if Rosha and Courtney would be up for it.
This led into breakfast the next morning. Rosha is half through her meal, but has stopped eating and has an eyebrow quirked, “Working escort?”
Courtney, “I’m not much for or against, but the only escort quests take us away from the forest. Will your title still qualify?”
Jason shrugs, “It should still count. While the area is settled, they’re still part of this expansion effort.”
Courtney nods, “Fair enough, though I might have a better option. While not strictly a protection based quest, it should work.
“The settlement wasn’t ever close to running out of food, but they did dip into their reserves. So, to replace what was used, they are doing a number of shallow expeditions to hunt for meat. Shallow enough that it will count, if only because the chances of any meat they get being edible is higher.”
Jason, “I guess we’ll be going to Helina again. Though having an actual goal in mind should save us some trouble.”
Rosha shrugs, “Someone had to do all that work. Not like there is a large population of low-level people around to handle it. Everyone here is expecting to be paid for their worth and not the job.
“Not that they shouldn’t be paid their worth. After all, a higher Strength means a higher carrying capacity. You can go and lift entire crates by yourself. Now just consider the hassle of either using a dolly or more people to move one. One guy with a decent strength is more than capable of replacing four to ten other people, depending. And not just in how much they can carry.”
