[Closed] Collecting Short Story Prompts for October 2022

Once again I'm here to ask all of you for short story prompts! I'll take the more popular ones as decided by the number of hearts (or that I particularly like) in the comments and make a poll at the start of the month. The winner will be made into a short story of a thousand or so words.

Not many rules on what you can suggest at the moment. That will mostly be figured out as we go. Besides that, the short story will come out before the end of the next month.

Rules for prompts:

Comments

Story Prompt: At the end of "[D'sP] Turn About Is Fair Play - Chapter 186": There is mention of 2 dungeons that were elevated to Ally's Mom's attention to be killed. Tell us the ?canon? story of her dealing with one/both of these problem dungeons.

I don't often read the short stories because they aren't relevant to the book I'm reading and a short story is too rushed for my tastes but if the stories were snippets of how things are going on in the book away from the Mcs that might be more interesting to me. It also allows for more world building, just a thought for my specific interests. Keep up the great work 👍.

personal opinion. Honestly we always get gods in fantasy world but we rarely see them interact with modern tech. Also it would be interesting how they would go about using Compiuters and other tech and what power they would use to gain advantiges. at the same time I also imagine how their encounters with Salt would be. there are a lot of toxic gamers

The trickster God won his bet against other God's whatever that bet was it matters not right now. You see the Trickster God in his infinete "wisdom" (boredom, desire for entertainment) decided that the losers of the bet (Other gods) must all learn to relax a bit. So the Trickster God is organising a tournament for all the Gods and to keep it fair he took games from othere worlds. Fps, LOL-likes, strategy, all different kinds just so no God can cheet by borowing the game knowledge from his belivers. everyone has 1 year to prepare and the big show is on. and as an extra incetive for fun this tournament must be brodcast in every major mortal and hevenly city. extra notes. Gods are from the Fantasy world and rarely pay attention to other dimensions.

A plant's spiritual journey: a cultivator breaks through out in nature where it easy to slough off the break through sludge and it can just be left as fertilizer for the nearby plants, except something went wrong and this batch had more Spirit than normal. A plant grows out of it and lo and behold it is a sapient (or at least sentient) plant and embarks on a spiritual journey. While firmly rooted in place. Oh bother.

Most worlds have a problem where they are "integrated" into a system and that's that, this world doesn't have that problem- rather its been integrated for so long that almost no one is left who can function without their skills- most mages don't actually understand their magic, they just yell out the system listed spell names, most warriors have forgotten actual fighting skills for flashy system assisted combat maneuvers, most craftsmen follow system given recipes to the letter. . . or at least that's how it was until a few moments back, when it was "freed" from the tyranny of its system by a being beyond the gods- right now, their civilizations are collapsing as they are forced to re-learn how things function without all the help the system gives them.

I have another go at flashy mage duell two mages at the arch mage level are friends but with another, "brilliant minds think alike," and when they need to battle for political reasons they make it look spectacular without much actual damage being done.

Eh, the "impurities" are supposed to be the mortal trappings and earthly ties binding the cultivator, and preventing them from reaching the "heavens". So, naturally, those impurities would make EXCELENT fertilizer for mundane plants, it is just that those plants would be less likely to become heavenly herbs.

PS I've only read one story so far that handles this issue splendidly, and thats "Forge of Destiny" on RoyalRoad, highly recommended

Story Prompt:- Culitvation Pollution So in Cultivation stories, there's a common theme in most of them that when a breakthrough is achieved, the body expels "Impurities" described as black sticky sludge with a horrid stench, and then, its simply washed away and never mentioned again. But hold on, that can't be healthy for the environment. Just how many cultivators have had breakthroughs, how many in the future? Thats a lot of Impurity. So what if we have a late-stage cultivation story where the land is rather corrupted by Impurity, with old Immortals trying to prevent new cultivators from making things worse, and the younger generation rebelling against the 'powerful elites'.
