Giving Ryan a well informed doctor is a great counterbalance to the potential misinformation scheme that Ryan’s mother perpetrated against him. Still, we need to understand what Ryan’s mother’s motivations were. Protecting your child from harm is a great motivator, so whatever she felt could happen to Ryan must be worth the risk of using hormone therapy so aggressively.
