Danny Boyle has outdone himself. This was the best one in the series. I really liked it. This is my first time finally watching it. I didn't watch it in theaters like I did the first two films. First time watching a movie with the watch along. Usually I watch the movie on my own first and then watch it again with the watch along. I don't understand why he evaluates a movie poster before watching the movie. We're in the day and age now where movie posters and Youtube thumbnails reveal spoilers. Going in blind the best experience. 28 Years, 28 Months, not a big deal. The time jump makes sense to show how much everything has change. I love the touching ending with Spike's mom. Its wasn't just another zombie movie. it had more character depth. Exploring different ideas. George Romero would be so proud. Spike holding his mum's skull gave me Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice vibes. Jodie Comer is great. That was beautiful. I'm confused with George resembling the character Jimmy with Jimmy Savile. Sometimes he has a mind of his own. I forgot Jimmy's name and kept guessing through out the movie which character is Jimmy year later. I wondering if the dad was Jimmy and then Erik. Why would this movie resemble Jimmy to such a horrible person? Way overstretching

Wouldn't it be funny if "28 years later" was a wholesome Solarpunk coming of age story?

I saw this in theaters and the power went out, lol. We waited like 15 mins, said fuck it, and ended up getting free tickets to go see Superman. It happened right before Sampson got darted. I already had watched the last 30 mins or so before watching along with G and S, and I liked it way more this 2nd time. It felt like the 1st hour in the theater dragged. It felt way smoother watching along with yall.

They should of had the mom start turning into a zombie without being bitten somehow to parallel with the human baby being born.

It's late and i'm drunk, so will refrain from posting a massive essay, but i think that is one of Danny Boyle's best films, and easily the best '28 XXX later' film. I've now seen it twice, and definitely will watch again. There's a lot going on in this film.

That’s really interesting. I didn’t actually think this movie retconned any of the developments of that movie since it… y’know… didn’t work out for England by the end of that one either. But at the end of the day honestly who cares about continuity anyway when it comes to art like this, right? If it’s good enough for George Miller…

Not sure if anyone else mentioned..but Danny Boyle said in an interview he did not take the 2nd movie into account at all (as he was not involved in that film..and in fact didn't like the direction they took)...so essentially this is the second film as far as he is concerned...and this film will have 2 more sequels coming

If you know anything at all about the geography of the North East, the route taken to reach Dr Kelson is perplexing to say the least. I doubt a fire near the Angel of the North, south of Gateshead, would be visible from the vicinity of Lindisfarne, nearly 70 miles or 113 km away. I assume the Sycamore Gap tree was included to show that this is an alternate timeline where the vandals did not survive to fell it. It's well out of the way of a direct route from Lindisfarne to Gateshead.

They already shot the sequel to this and it comes out early next year. Cillian Murphy is confirmed to be in it. It’s called 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. It’s directed by Nia Dacosta who directed the sequel/Reboot to Candyman (which is so good and produced by Jordan Peele).

I struggled to finish watching this. Introducing the different 'types' of zombies is just a cheap way to try and make them more interesting and has been done to death (haha) already. Just like the second one it suffers from people making really stupid decisions. The Dr was potentially interesting but really didn't amount to much. They could have killed the Alpha twice but didn't bother for some reason. Conveniently running into both Erik and the Dr to save their lives at the last second was lame. The ending was incredibly stupid with the telly tubby ninja chavs. I know they said they don't do rescue missions but surely the dad would ignore that and go by himself anyway, they easily could have guessed Spike's destination. I didn't care about the mum at all. Anyway that's some of my thoughts immediately after watching it.

This was about the nature of family and Danny Boyle has said the next one is about the nature of evil so I think we're going to get Jimmy as some kind of evangelical figure who has an influence on spike and we'll also have Ralph Fiennes who will try to guide Spikein the right direction. Probably get some science vs religion themes in there too.

Also, those shots of the Sycamore Gap Tree make me mad all over again given what happened. I hope those guys got thrown in a cell with a 300lb very lonely prisoner named Bubba.

This is the sort of movie that I think divides even people who like cinema. It happens a lot in major genre franchises as they age, and sooner or later somebody gets the idea that whatever the idea behind the franchise was that made it famous, its not good enough. Or its gotten tired. Or whatever. Sometimes its a studio going out and intentionally hiring a hot at the moment disruptor like Rian Johnson to destroy the Star Wars mythology. Sometimes its going back to the original director and finding out he no longer believes in his own original creation, like Ridley Scott with Prometheus and Covenant. But I think there is a conflict when directors treat long term established franchises like they own them and make the movies for themselves. Because on the other side any long term franchise is going to have millions and millions of fans invested in it. there is an argument that at some point the franchise belongs to them, and you are its steward and should be making movies for them, not you.
