I talked to my dad the day before Father's day for about an hour and wished it to him then. My only child forgot to wish me a Happy Father's day til his mother reminded him the day after. Yay.

the mona lisa is abhorrently large in this film lol

michael murray

I described this flick to a friend thusly: "Imagine, if you will: A knife fight... with pistols."

Ken Quick

Does this mean you won't be seconding my request for Wanted (2008)? :-)

Happy Hanukkah

you can definitely say that Equilibrium is partly inspired by Fahrenheit 451β€”along with other classic dystopias like 1984 and Brave New World. Typical Parallels to Fahrenheit 451: β€’ Ban on art, books, and music: In both works, these are seen as dangerous because they encourage emotions and independent thought. β€’ Repressive society: Both societies try to suppress individuality and humanity itself. β€’ Protagonist as an enforcer who rebels: Both Guy Montag (F451) and John Preston (Equilibrium) start as agents of the system, but gradually begin to question and resist it. The Difference: While Fahrenheit 451 is centered around the reading of books, Equilibrium focuses on the suppression of all emotions through a drug, with a total ban on art, literature, and feelings. Conclusion: You could say: β€œEquilibrium is inspired by Fahrenheit 451 and borrows many of its themes, but reinterprets them and combines them with ideas from other dystopian stories.”

Gun Fu is stupid imo

Michael M.

This is such a fun flick, not a great cinematic masterpiece, the story is silly but man is it stylish and fun.

Jobbe Smit

Now, next up for a Christian Bale from that early era, you should put Reign of Fire (2002) in a genre poll. Flawed, but really unique, and has a really fun over the top performance from a famous actor that you would never see coming. Definitely has a fanbase -- you might be surprised how well it would do in a poll.

This movie was interesting for me and my friends because we watched this movie a year before we were assigned β€œBrave New World” in school. VERY similar story.

Also, American Graffiti is arguably George Lucas' best film. And it has a theme in common with Electronic Labyrinth and Star Wars.

Stuart Sutcliffe

This is the part where we HAVE to insist George and Simone watch George Lucas' pre-Star Wars filmography. THX-1138 is flawed, but based on the same literature as Equilibrium. But y'all should first watch the student film on which it was based: Electronic Labyrinth: THX 1138 4EB. It's close to a perfect short film, if its narrative style is alittle opaque, and it is public domain because it was a student film.

Stuart Sutcliffe

Obligatory standard "insight": Equilibrium = 1984 + The Matrix. 36:30 -> 38:13 :-) 36:32-36:41 Oh noes! You've not included the homage to Phoebe Cates! [Obscure joke.] 36:55 "Gun Kata" 37:48 "He precise. He so careful, he piss on a plate and never splash."

Happy Hanukkah

Premise of this movie is INCREDIBLY stupid, but give it some really good actors and action scenes, and surprisingly, somehow, it works.

MR

She's cozy.

Diplo's Sandwich

I'm starting to be convinced that Simone doesn't own any t-shirts. lol. Or am I wrong? Lol
