I would have gone with Trivia Galore...

Now that you are embarking in the James Bond-journey, I can’t help myself but suggest some movies/TV-shows that have an espionage theme, but are more on the serious side. Of course I’m talking about the various adaptations of the books by John Le Carre. Here are a few suggestions: - The spy who came in from the cold (1965) - Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy & Smiley’s People (1979/1982) - The tailor of Panama (2001) - The constant gardener (2005) - Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (movie-version from 2011) - A most wanted man (2014) - The Night Manager (2016) - The little drummer girl (2018)

The character Pussy Galore is first to be found in Ian Fleming's 1959 novel of Goldfinger, in which she and the rest of her troupe of trapeze artists - rather than aerobatic pilots - are all lesbians. I saw the movie in the 60s as a child and wasn't ware of the sexual connotation of the name until years later. Those were more innocent times, I guess, although US censors supposedly weren't too happy about the name.

This is probably my second favorite Sean Connery Bond film. I can’t wait for you guys to get to the next one Thunderball that’s my all-time favorite. I can’t wait for you guys to hear the theme song for Thunderball. I have the soundtrack on vinyl it’s so good. I didn’t take Goldfinger as a serious movie when I used to watch it as a kid, I also didn’t think it was silly like you guys think it is when I used to watch it.

If you liked Pussy Galore, you're going to love the name of the Bond girl in Diamonds Are Forever.

When you watch James Bond films, you can rate them by the actual quality of the movie or by the “Bond” quality of the movie. Goldfinger is considered the most “Bond” of the Connery films. It’s where they perfected the “Bond” movie tropes. 1) hit song, 2) sexually names females, 3) ridiculously tough henchman, 4) gadgets, 5) top villain easily killed mastermind, 6) must change countries at least four times, 7) Bond has several dad joke one-liners, etc.

I know many have already mentioned it’s not Ethel Merman, just want to highlight this great anecdote about her that I really hope Is true. When she was appearing on the Loretta Young Show – Merman was taken to a set where Loretta Young was rehearsing a scene. The set had a long winding staircase, Ethel said, "Where the hell does this go?' Loretta stopped the rehearsal, picked up a swear jar which she used to collect money for the church. "Miss Merman, you said the 'H' word! That'll be twenty-five cents," said Loretta. Ethel had already heard about Young's wild sex life and thought her a hypocrite, so responded "Tell me, Loretta, how much will it cost me to tell you to go fuck yourself?"

Hi love the reaction and love you guys. but one correction. the theme song is sung by Shirley Bassey not Ethel Merman. LMAO!!!! no biggie. Shirley Bassey also sang other bond theme songs you'll see later.
