Hey guys,
like I promised, it's time for some updates and infos for the big thing I'm currently working on. My first real comic: Ariel & the Halfling.
I will split this post into different categories: The Cast, The Scenery, My overall progress and last but not least a short summary of the Story. The hole post will, except the story part of course, be spoiler free, don't worry. The pictures above this post are mostly made for this update and don't show actually pictures of the comic. They just serve the purpose of giving you a good first impression on what you have to expect visually from the comic. So, let's go!
The Cast
Let's begin with the most important thing first: Our lovely giantess for this Comic. Ariel and Sythia. While Ariel plays just herself as a good-hearted heroine, Sythia takes her role as the nameless 'Black Queen", arch Nemesis of Ariel. While Ariel starts on her default height from 1,98m(6,5f), Sythia does with ~2,30m(7,5f). The growing parts of the comic mostly evolve around Ariel as we follow her way to greatness. I can't say at this point how tall they exactly become with this one, but expect something around 15-20m(50-65f). And, as always, not only their height increases but some other body parts too!
MrMe will play his role as "Finnigan Smallfoot", soon-to-be friend/lover of Ariel. Like with Gareth in "The Story of little Katy", we will see the story evolving for us from his eyes. I think this is the best way to get the most magnificent views on this nice giant girls. And probably most of you want to be on the tinys place anyway, I guess. I definitely would.
For the rest of the cast, I will just provide a simple list because the mostly just statists.
Josh & Mira Bilberry - The Halfling Josh is Finnigan's best Friend and neighbor, together with his wife.
Ced Bottomhill - The Halfling Ced is a rowdy and nemesis to Finnigan.
Innkeeper Beebush - Owner of the Inn in Halfington.
Harold Darkriver & Archibald Bighead - Friends of Ced and part of his gang.
If you want to know more about the background of those roles and how they evolve, read the Story Summary.
The Scenery
The main part of the comic plays in Middle-Nirn, a 'sort of' second dimension of Nirn (the place where Tamriel/Skyrim is located). This world is, as you already thought of by now, heavily inspired by the works of Tolkien, namely Middle-Earth. The Story takes place in the dreamy valleys around Halfington. The halflings are the Hobbits obviously, So expect nice gardens, underground houses and second breakfast!
The base that I'm working here is coming with the mod "The Shire", that adds the important worldspaces and assets. But preparing the scenery with this one was a nightmare. Many of the levels weren't ready to just start and take a lot of work to get finalized. But more on that in my progress section. The scenes and therefore the pictures are mostly bright with warm and comforting colors.
The important stages of the comic will play in the following locations:
Halfington - The busy Town of the Halflings.
Applehome - Finnigan's Homestead and Garden/Orchard.
The Forests and the Magic Lake - The natural surroundings, hills and valleys around Applehome.
Progress
The Progress of the Comic is a little bit worrying, to be honest. All the Worldspaces are set up, as are the Characters and their design. The Story itself is set also, but not written, of course. At the moment this update releases, I would guess around a third of the pictures are done. But I planned to be at 50% (at least) by the end of September. This delay comes mostly from the scenebuilding I have to make, namely the in- and exterior of Applehome. The location where around 70% of the story takes place. The Pictures in this update that show the Interiors are basically outdated at this point, and do look and feel much more happier, detailed and brighter today.
The good thing is, that the pictures are looking much better than I expected and are all top-notch! The new scenes and lighting really shows and there are, by far, my best made content at this point. I'm proud of it and can't wait to show them.
I'm not sure if I can hold my promise of releasing the Comic by the End of November. Maybe I have to stretch it into the December. The only thing I can certainly say is, that the Comic will release this year.
In case you're not reading any further than this (because now the spoiler part starts), I say goodbye! Thank you for your time and your support, and hopefully see you again somewhere here on my content page. Let me know your thoughts on the comic!
Until then, my growing regards,
MrMe
Story Summary (Spoiler Alert!)
The comic tells the love story of Finnigan Smallfoot and Ariel Custosius. Fin, is a small-grown Halfling, trying to make a living as a Herbalist near Halfington. The comics start with him, visiting the town searching for the woman he's in love with since several years. But he gets hardly rejected after asking her out. On top of that, he gets mocked up by Ced and his Gang, the boys that bother Fin for his entire life. Finnigan retreats to his home, and the enchanting lake behind his garden, to pout.
After this, the scene change to Ariel and the Black Queen, in Tamriel. The redhead hast lost her last fight with the evil, giant Necromancer and is put to trial. Badly wounded, and only through a miracle, Ariel escapes through a portal and lands right in front of Finnigan and into the lake. The Halfling manages to rescue the unconscious fallen Ariel from drowning and saves her life. What both of them don't know at this point: The water of the lake has a magical effect on Ariel that makes her growing.
Finnigan takes care of Ariels wounds and locks her in his barn, where the redhead hours later comes to regain consciousness. At the next morning they both meet proper for the first time. While Fin is scared of the already grown woman, Ariel tries to thank her saver and get his trust. In the coming hours and days they both become closer and closer, discovering the other's secrets and find similarities. It doesn't take long for them to notice Ariels growing and with every inch the redhead gains, the feelings for each other are getting more intense. All while Ariel is hidden from the other Halflings, because Finnigan fears their judgment of the overgrown woman. With the help of Josh and his wife Mira, Fin manages to hide Ariel for some time before the inevitable happens.
Just when Ariel and Finnigan want's to declare love to each other at a romantic scene at the lake, they both get detected by Ced. The Gang member is threatened by the at this point, gigantic Ariel to be left alone with her love. The redhead decided to take action after this, before Ced can, and goes provocative with Fin to Halfington. The giantess is meet with shocking by the other Halflings and the to begin hopeful scene closes with the worst ending. The giantess gets exiled and hunted down by torches and pitchforks while leaving the place. Hidden in the woods, both Ariel and Finnigan agree to left Halfington and life their life together, somewhere in private. But before they could leave, the story takes another turn.
Shortly after Ariel was discovered by the other Halfings, the Black Queen finally manages to follow Ariel. The evil Necromancer arrives right at Halfington and attacks the city with her minions. To make matters worse, Ced tells the Queen about the magic lake, and the effect that it had on Ariel. After Finnigan and Ariel hear of the attack they both return to Applehome and the lake, to confront the Black Queen. This concludes in a fight between Ariel and the Necromancer over the power of the lake, while they both try to outgrow each other. In the end, Ariel overreaches the Queen and destroys her and her minions to safe Halfington.
After this heroic action, the other halflings finally see that Ariel isn't a danger to them, but in turn, their savior. The redhead is finally taking into the fold, and both her and Finnigan can live in peace.
