Upfront payments?

Patreon just implemented the option for this, and I'm been going over it in my head a bit, it makes the payments a bit more consistent but also makes it more paysite-y which is a boon and a bane for me respectively

Basically how it works "normally" is - You pledge, and gain access to what you pledged for. Then at the end of the cycle, you're charged for that time that you *had*

The upfront method makes it so that - You pledge, and you are charged immediately for the term you're *going* to get, and then gain access to the content

It's "having access for June and then paying afterwards" vs "paying and then having access for June"

What are your guys' thoughts on this? The only problem I think it might cause is possibly a problem with the Raffle drawing, but that's something I think I might be able to just move to the end of the month rather than the start of the month, perhaps

Comments

The way that Patreon seemed to describe it is that you still get charged once a month, just that the payment you made last week was in fact not for June but for July

Pay up front keeps people from ripping you off. But how does this work for current patrons? I get charged twice next month? For July past and August?

ANIMENIAC

If it helps against people abusing the current system, then I say go for it.

It would probably work more in your favor - im sure you saw June 30th last month your patron count suddenly dropped, and then went back up again July 2nd
