Sparking Soul: Ch.32

“No salmon for Fandral, no pork for Hogun, Sif doesn't want any sort of beef and Volstagg…he'll eat anything except for crustaceans so make sure those are not on his plate.”

“As you command, my King,” the chefs bowed and I smiled as I walked out of the kitchen, nodding to the Einherjar that saluted as I passed them while making my way to my destination.

Before, today would have made me the happiest man in the Nine realms, but as I am now, today just made me more nervous by the second as the day passed.

Today was the day of my coronation, not just as King of Asgard but also Protector of the Nine Realms and Representative for Asgard in the Omnipotence City.

That meant a few foreign guests here to see my coronation, some of which I am more than welcome to have here and some that…let's just say it was better to let Father deal with them.

'Unfortunately, he's off to better lands which means that I'm stuck being king. Well, I've gotten food, drinks and accommodation for everyone sorted, but why do I feel like I'm forgetting someth-Valkyrie! Holy fuck, I forgot about her!', I thought with wide eyes as I quickly turned away from the throne room and made my way towards Himinbjorg.

Raising my hands to the sky, the air rumbled before a familiar spear and axe flew to my grasp, placing Jarnbjorn on my back while Gungnir's energy rung across the Rainbow Bridge with every step.

I had thought that the weapon would have vanished with Father, but apparently, it was simply kept safe in his room until I went to visit it and found the weapon tucked away next to his armour.

“My king, what brings you here?”, Heimdall asked as he looked out at the stars and I stood beside him while trying to figure out how to word it.

“Heimdall, say that you knew where an Asgardian was, but you're not sure on how to tell the person that can get you to said location that you knew where they were, how woul-”

“Where is this person?”

“…You're not going to ask why?”

“The All-Father always knew where a rogue Asgardian or enemy was and he never told anyone of how he found them just like you are doing right now. It is not my job as gatekeeper and guardian of Asgard to ask you numerous questions on where you are heading. I simply open the gates and close them for you.”

“Cool, but you're also my friend. Anyway, Sakaar is the place.”

“Done,” Heimdall nodded as he twisted Hofung and I watched as the Bifrost sparked before shooting out a beam of iridescent light.

“If my brother or sister asks-”

“I do not know nor did I ask where,” Heimdall spoke and I smiled as I walked down the steps, letting the Bifrost take me as I found myself flying past hundreds of galaxies in the blink of an eye.

It was not long before I found myself approaching a planet, readying myself as I slammed feet first into the ground and the Bifrost vanished.

'Yep, the garbage place,' I thought with a frown as I looked at the garbage heap around me as well as the gaping wormhole in the sky where even more rubbish was falling through.

Yeah, this is not my place to clean, but it is time to find a Valkyrie.

'Is her name even Valkyrie? Wasn't it Brunhilde or Brumhilde or something like that and Thor just called her Valkyrie?', I hummed to myself as I began making my way to the city I could see in the far distance, but I barely made it three steps before I found myself being surrounded by a horde of mask-wearing beings dressed in radiant robes and cloaks of various colours.

Each of them also had a weapon, some being larger than others, and I raised an eyebrow as the first one at the front approached me.

Anqwu hxxlak kxjskka klxkkjc…”, Whatever language they were speaking, it was not one of the hundreds I knew as it sounded like a mixture of gibberish and tongue-clicking, making me frown as I looked around.

“Apologies, but does anyone perhaps know Scrapper…Scrapper…what was her number again?”, I murmured before looking up as a bolt of lightning jumped from Jarnbjorn to block the laser blast shot at me.

“That's not nice, you know? I'm trying to be civil and-”, The beings didn't care as they all opened fire, a sigh escaping my lips as numerous blasts were repelled by the dome of lightning that Jarnbjorn formed.

“Well, I tried being nice,” I muttered as I raised Gungnir before bringing it down, unleashing a shockwave that shook the ground we were standing on as well as sending most of the ground flying into the trash heap.

Unfortunately for them, most of the trash was razor sharp and I winced as all who fell on them either got impaled or lost a limb to the trash, those that weren't sent flying turning to their friends and back to me.

“…In my defence, I was being nice. Now, can you-Oh, come on,” I groaned as they began running away before lightning struck, sending them back flying back to me as I caught one and let the other sfall.

“I apologize for this, but I don't have time,” I muttered while activating my telepathy, immediately discarding most of the being's memories before I blinked as I found myself staring at the tan-skinned woman with her hair in a ponytail and struggling to find her footing.

'Scrapper 142. That's her,' Letting go of the Sakaaran Scrapper's mind, I dropped him before shooting through the air, letting lightning take my form and grinning as I rushed through the air in the form of a lightning bolt itself.

Oh, how could I give this up for some stones? I really was a fool.

It did not take me more than a few seconds before I crashed into the largest building in the city, rushing past the guards and reappearing right in front of a bewildered man, a frowning well-built woman and the slender Asgardian I was looking for.

“Grandmaster, right? Thor, god of Thunder, king of Asgard. Pleased to meet you. Apologies for the destruction, but I figured this was the quickest way I could get your attention.”

“Oh, no need to apologize. I must say that it is quite rare that I find myself shocked by something happening,” Not to my surprise, the Grandmaster was very chill and laid-back despite the fact that I just tore a hole from the outer wall of his building to his meeting/ dance room.

“Glad to hear. Anyway, I'm just here for her and I'll be on my way.”

“Scrapper 142? Ah, that's a no-can-do. You see, she's quite va-”

“Will two million units do?”

“-valuable to you so most certainly, two million will do. Scrapper 142, you…you go over to the nice kingly gentleman there,” The Grandmaster spoke as I walked over, tapping at the screen he held up to me and transferring the units from the Asgardian vaults.

Yes, vaults. As it turns out, centuries of conquests and victories has made Asgard a very rich society, both physically and digitally.

“Pleasure doing business with you. Uh…honestly, this is as far as I was planning so I'll be waiting outside at your ship, Scrapper 142,” I spoke before I began walking back, humming to myself as I dropped down and landed with a grunt on the ground.

“Oi! What the hell did you just do?!”, I heard a voice shout and looked up to see the woman sliding down, hopping from building to building in a display of graceful agility before she landed in front of me with a glare.

“I just saved you. You're welcome.”

“Did it look like I needed saving?”

“No, but I tend to do what I want and not the right thing so you don't have to feel bad. Anyway, is this a good spot to call Heimdall?”

“Firstly, no. We're in the centre of the city and the Bifrost would destroy it, buffoon. Secondly, why in Frigga's saggy tits would I want to go back?”

“Oi, don't call my mother's tits sa-Wait, is it weird if I care or if I don't care?”, I murmured, shaking my head before surprising Brunhilde as I grabbed onto her arm and launched us both through the skies.

“What the bloody hell is wrong with you?!”

“I don't listen to most people who say no! Why? Is that bad?!”, I shouted back as we both flipped through the air, landing on the outskirts of the city before I stepped back as she swung a sword at me.

“Oh, a collapsible Uru blade? That's the Valkyrie standard, right?”

“Who in the hell are you?”

“I did introduce myself, right? Thor, king of As-

“The All-Father Odin is the King of Asgard.”

“He was up until a month ago when he passed on and gave the role to me,” I answered, watching her eyes widen at that before they narrowed.

“Okay, if he's dead, why the hell are you here?”

“Oh, that's mostly because Hela is already back at home and I figured I'd bring home the one person she caused the most pain to. That and you're an Asga-”

“Re…repeat what you just said,” Brunhilde cut me off and I stopped only to grimace when I saw the cold look in her eyes.

“Right, I forgot Hela killed y-”

“Killed? Ha! Killed means that she at least showed some mercy and let me tell you something. She didn't show any mercy in the slightest. Now, where the fuck is she?”

“On Asgard, currently helping with preparations for my coronation.”

“You expect me to believe that?”

“You can come see for yourself,” I answered as I held a hand out, watching her narrow her eyes before I smiled and lowered my hand.

“Fine, then. I suppos-”, My eyes narrowed as I turned around, looking from building to building while slowly grasping Jarnbjorn on my back.

“Do you se-”, My body moved instinctively and I swung upwards, unleashing a burst of lightning that cleaved through the hammer trying to hit me from above and nearly taking the head of the being that tried to kill me.

“Who in the…huh?”

“You are powerful,” The horse humanoid spoke with a smirk and I was a bit bewildered at them before my eyes widened as I recognized the figure. After all, there was Mighty Thor, normal Thor and the one Thor-like figure I was hoping they'd show in the MCU but never did.

'Beta Ray Bill…but without Stormbreaker. Wasn't he strong enough to box with Hulk in that planet Hulk movie? Wait, didn't that movie take place on…on Sakaa-Ah, I guess this takes place in that continuation,' I thought with a hum as I placed Jarnbjorn on my back once again, making the man frown when I held my spear and looked at him.

“You put away your weapon.”

“Yeah, because if I use Jarnbjorn, I might kill you and I want to talk.”

“I see. You believe that you can defeat me without it? Or is that spear more powerful?”

“The spear is far more powerful, but I'm not looking to defeat you. Instead, I have a proposition.”

“I'm listening.”

“You come work for me as one of Asgard's warriors and my personal guards.”

“And why would I do that?”

“Because in return, I'll do my best to see all your dreams come true.”

“You can do that?”, He asked with a doubtful look and I shrugged as I let Gungnir float beside me.

“As long as it is within my power.”

“Can you resurrect the dead?”

“Ah…no.”

“Then you cannot help me restore my world,” He spoke with a shake of his head and I sighed before nodding.

“Okay, then. I guess this is goodbye the-”

“However, I will listen if you fight me,” Beta cut me off and I raised an eyebrow before turning to Brunhilde as she spoke.

“He won't. He's the Grandmaster's greatest fighter and I'm sure the man wouldn't want to let you run away without his consent. Besides, you still got-”, I blinked as Beta reached for his neck and gripped the Obedience Disk, looking Brunhilde dead in the eyes while tearing it out and throwing it onto the ground.

“You're bleeding.”

“Regeneration,” He answered and I smirked as I watched the wound seal back shut, Brunhilde humming with an impressed look before Beta looked at me once again with a frown.

“Now, will you?”

“…Okay, but we can't fight here and not today. Today's the day of my coronation and I can't show up with bruises so we can do it tomorrow.”

“You think you will be bruised?”, He asked and I just smirked as I pulled Gungnir to my grasp, slamming the butt of it onto the ground before the Bifrost came down upon the three of us.

In the blink of an eye, I walked out onto Himinbjorg with a smile, a frowning Brunhilde and a humming Beta following after me before I grimaced at Hela's gaze immediately locking onto the Valkyrie.

“Oh, would you look at that? It's the bird that got away.”

“Nope!”, I quickly spoke as I held a hand out, conjuring a small tornado that caught Brunhilde and held her in place while frowning at an amused Hela who shrugged.

“What?”

“Not today. You two can fight it out tomorrow.”

“Wonderful. Who's the man beside you?”

“Beta Ray Bill, my lady.”

“Wait, why is she my lady and I'm not my lord?”

“She feels stronger.”

“Indeed I am,” Hela spoke with a pleased smile as she walked down the steps, placing a hand on Beta's chest before humming and looking at me with a smirk.

“He's the new addition to your guards?”

“Along with Hulk and Emil, yes.”

“…Good. He's strong, far stronger than those three buffoons you call friends.”

“Hela…”

“I'm just saying it how it is. As for you two, welcome to Asgard. Now, you, come. It is time for you to get dressed.”

“Got it. Scrapper, you go and enjoy yourself for the date. Beta, just follow her to the banquet halls and you'll find your fellow guards.”

“You speak as if you've already won,” He spoke with a frown and I smirked as I shrugged and followed after Hela.

Time to become a King.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“It is with great pleasure that we welcome the great gods of Omnipotence City and the great warriors of Asgard. Today is a day like very few others in the past, not marked by war or mourning…but by ascension,” Hela began her speech, the other gods and residents of Asgard staying silent as I stood in front of her.

“Today, the Nine Realms witness not the rise of a conqueror, but of a king chosen by storm and sacrifice. You all know his name. Thor Odinson. Once a brash warrior and a broken prince, he is now reforged in the crucible of loss.

He has bled for this realm and many others, buried his kin, walked among mortals and stood unflinching before the Mad Titan and many like him. Where he once sought glory, he now seeks purpose and for that, he…he is worthy of his throne,” She spoke, Gungnir and Jarnbjorn sparking at her words as she turned her gaze towards me.

“Today, he becomes more than a son of Odin, more than the god of Storms. Today, he becomes Protector and Speaker of the Nine Realms, the king of Asgard,” She ended, which was my cue to rise before my eyes widened as she looked me in the eyes and knelt slowly.

“I, Hela Odinsdottir, Firstborn of Odin Borson and Goddess of Death, bend no knee lightly, but I do so now. It is not for tradition nor for peace, but because he, my younger brother, has become the god I would follow to the end of days. May he reign supreme. To Thor!”

To Thor!”, Asgard roared in unison, the Einherjar and Warrior Three slamming their weapons in cadence while the other gods from Omnipotence City cheered as well.

All except for Zeus who didn't look pissed off as the man clapped politely with a smile.

Rising to my feet with Hela following as well, I turned to the crowd before both Gungnir and Jarnbjorn floated to my grasp, raising both weapons high and bringing them down with a deafening boom of thunder that seemed to make the people cheer even more.

You speak of worthy gods yet all I see are liars dressed in gold,” However, I was confused at the hiss that echoed from the back of the crowd, the eerie voice cutting through the cheers and making them die down slowly.

As everyone stepped to the side to see who it was, I narrowed my eyes at the being with the hooded black cloak standing in the back and a pitch black blade in his hand.

“May I ask who you are?”

Who I am is of no importance. What I am is something you should fear more, little god.”

“I do not like how you're talking to Thor there, my friend. Perhaps you've had too much to drink,” Dread took me over as I heard Fandral speak, making my way towards the back with Loki and Hela following after.

Oh, I do not believe I have. After all, the blood of gods is delicious but the flavours are oh-so-fleeting~”

“Fandral, move!”, I shouted as I shot forward, the man slowly turning his gaze to me before I gritted my teeth while Fandral's eyes widened as the black blade stabbed through his heart and out the other side.

Raising Gungnir high, I swung it down and the Odinforce came down with it, the blast like a hammer of judgement as the man along with the walls behind him were blasted away.

Loki quickly rushed in and caught Fandral while Hela and I rushed out after the man, but as I got to the outside, my eyes widened as the being floated in the air with a gaping hole in his chest.

This was a warning, Odinson. Soon, the ichor of the gods will flood the cosmos and I will dine. Until we meet again.”

A/N: And we're kicking off the God-Butcher arc~!! Sorry for the late upload too, but I wanted a way to incorporate the new characters and the Butcher and I think I got it.

Anyway, next chapter: Declaration.
