thanks for the heads up, and yeah while I'm in love with the animation and am heavily invested in the drama and characters, there are certain choices made that clearly make me uncomfortable lol
2021-09-07 20:24:33 +0000 UTCI'm pretty sure the "we promise fanservice" thing is completely arbitrary as I'm almost completely sure there is nothing they could market as fanservice in the next episode. Authorial intent is a really difficult conversation for this show because most of what the english speaking world knows about the production is vaguely sourced and questionably translated. There's quotes I've read that completely changed my perspective of the show, only to find a year later that said quote was fabricated/a rumor/mistranslated. While later parts of the show make me want to excuse some of the choices I didn't like in the series. It's difficult to to say if I actually believe that or I just prefer adjusting the worst parts of the show to fit my favorite interpretations of it. This show can genuinely simultaneously or exclusively be interpreted as extremely well intentioned or extremely gross. Which is why the show is probably the most discussed and argued about anime. Also if you you made it through this short story, head's up, the next episode starts out as a clip show but transitions into new stuff.

I checked this batch of episodes, and episode 11's version is sung by Rei, Misato, and Asuka together. 12 is sung by Misato's VA alone. And episode 13's was sung by Yoko Takahashi, who also does the opening song.
