If I'm not mistaken my calendar says it's Friday, and it's the end of the month! That means it's time for the monthly end of month update!! Oh joy!

Been taking a bit of a break from YT stuff post Helen Keller. I wish it was more of a break break, but I have work obligations to my actual job and it doesn't help things that one of the Devs dusnae fucking work. But the content machine still churneth

Simpsons: Hit And Run Isn't As Good As Your Remember (Sorry)

The script continues to expand and continues to be a mess but at present I can't see a way to un-mess it. We're in the "check and verify notes" stage of the script so a first draft can be expected soon. I also wanted to see if I could somehow persuade fellow YouTuber and honest to God Doctor of physics Simon Clark to explain turning circles via a spoof of a package to Pasadena bit from "Who Shot Mr Burns Pt. I"

I'm also struggling to conclude it beyond "it's a fine game I just was personally bothered by the hype engine around this game" - I need a better coda than that but that's the coda I have. I think the video needs/deserves better than that now it's ballooned to 60 pages worth of stuff nd thoughts

Add-ons:
I've had to take the Fallout New Vegas retrospective out of production temporarily because I needed to basically chase some leads on Marxist thought and it's many splinters. This has included reading a lot of Marx, Deng, New Left Thought, and Xi Jingping of all people.  

Having read and made notes on a lot of it I've come to the conclusion I hate Marx. Or maybe I just hate reading "Governance of China"; because I've read the words "socialism with Chinese characteristics" so many times they've lost all meaning. And you'd think Xi Jingping would define "socialism with Chinese characteristics" - but he just DOESN'T! I had to read around it to piece together what exactly the synthesis of Dengism, Three Represents, Mao Zedong Thought, and Scientific Outlook on Development that makes up """socialism with Chinese characteristics""" even IS. Tighten it up, Xi!!

The first volume of "Governance of China" is more than 500 pages long if you don't count the 45 pages that are just pictures of Xi, and I'm not joking when I say it could be summed up with the joke Clinton speech from Treehouse of Horror: "As a young boy, I dreamed of being a baseball. But tonight I say, we must move forward, not backward; upward, not forward; and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!"

Upside: I've also been vindicated by Josh Sawyer that he's a huge fan of democracy! And I wasn't far off in my conclusion that New Vegas is saying the factions who view democracy as a mistake are wrong, and that the solution he believed is *more* democracy, actually. It was pretty cool to be told that!

Another upside: Figuring out how Homer Simpson's wage has changed with inflation/how that ties in to the shifting tectonics in society where there isn't much of an economic everyman anymore for the Simpsons to represent or lampoon has been a lot of fun. It's also expanded into every job Homer Simpson has ever done and calculating a running average over the years. Spoilers: The Simpsons are a solidly low-income family now! I need to convert it into a semi-scripted form, but look forward to that!

Also, lemme know if anyone would be down to watch Threads for Halloween - a film about the Cold War going hot and genuinely one of the most terrifying things I've ever seen!
