2024-12-19 23:10:55 +0000 UTCI was mostly being flippant, but I do think it's a controversial list. This year is stacked with interesting and unique games, and a lot of these choices feel uninspired. Dragon Age at #1 is controversial too as opinions really vary with that game. Alan Wake 2 DLC was fine but it being the 6th best game of the year? And if you're adding dlc, no erdtree? I think I expect a certain level from a big outlets top ten that covers a wide swath of the industry, but this just feels like one guy wrote his personal top ten, which is probably true.

I've been part of the minnmax community since launch and I think I have a pretty healthy long-distance relationship with you guys, but I met a few of my all time (nerdy) celebrities, and each time I have really struggled to be normal or cool, or chill or whatever, and after the fact really beat myself up about feeling like a weirdo and coming off bad to some heroes of mine. I am confident that speaking over discord or text I would be fine, I've jumped into Leo's streams a couple of times and had back and forth that felt fun and cool and breezy, but what tips could you give for meeting people who are really big in your world but they have no idea who you are etc etc.

My friend decided to send me a few gifts for christmas, one being a box of cat toys for my new kitty, and the other one being a cosplay replica of the oblivion keyblade from kingdom hearts. Pretty cool gifts right? One small issue, neither of us have ever played Kingdom Hearts, even for a moment. I need help with a few things here. What do I do with this prop? Do I hang it on the wall despite having no attachment to kingdom hearts? If so what room do I put this in??? Do I just carry it around for the rest of time in case some comically large door needs to be opened/cut?? (again, i have no clue what this weapon is for) And also, what the hell do i get him in return? Do I send him a keyblade too? What's the etiquette here?? HELP!

Am I crazy or might this be a contender for greatest moment this year for 2024? I have never had a moment feel so iconic and straight from the lore from an IP that has never had (to my knowledge) had a game set in first person. Can you think of any other moments in gaming where the source material from an IP is so well understood that any new portrayals of its characters or lore feel seamless and like they have always existed?

2024-12-10 20:52:19 +0000 UTCWhile the Game Awards deserve a lot of the criticism that they get, I think it helps to take a step back and see that they've actually produced some pretty admirable nominations and winners for GOTY, like: - A multiplayer game winning in 2016 over a AAA third-person action-adventure game (Overwatch vs Uncharted 4) - Something as avant garde as Alan Wake 2 being nominated last year over FFXVI, Diablo 4, and Starfield - 2d platformers, fighting games, horror games and cozy games all having been nominated at some point Of course it could and should be better, but when I compare it to the Oscars' semi-frequent bad Best Picture winner or pop's absolute stranglehold on the Grammys, it's hard to be too mad when a 3d platformer, an indie card game, two JRPGs, an extremely difficult action rpg, and a Chinese game are our options.

What's one change you made, thing you bought for or thing you learned about your living space that you did this year that you really like or are proud of? Me? 2024-12-10 18:58:33 +0000 UTCHowdy! During the FF7 Rebirth deepest dive, Ben made a controversial statement (just kidding) about Cloud possibly being autistic or something along those lines. As someone on the spectrum myself, I’ve always found Cloud to also be on the spectrum. I mentioned this to my partner and pointed out a few instances where Cloud behaved in an odd manner and reminded me of some of my mannerisms when it comes to social cues. Not to excuse Cloud and his crappy behavior but it’s an interesting angle when looking at his character development. I enjoyed seeing this representation in one of my favorite series of all time. Although I need to admit, it’s probably not what the creators were going for. With this in mind, are there any characters that have resonated with any of you in terms of their mannerisms and/or representation on screen? Cheers to a great 2025!

My question is: have you ever started something and gotten so into it over time that suddenly you realize you’ve spent years with it? For example turning off map icons in an open world game to get a better feeling of discovery or removing seemingly necessary hud elements. Last year I bought an external video scaler and since then I’ve loved finding modern pc games that play well on a CRT tv. The best by far this year is UFO50 but I also really enjoyed Cocoon by play dead and surprisingly Rocket League is really fun on a crt as well although the menus are completely unreadable.

Titles like Indiana Jones, Chained Echoes and Marvel's Midnight Suns were well-received, but certainly suffered (or will suffer in Indy's case) from their late-in-the-year arrival. Sure, some exceptions have happened, such as Vampire Survivors, which quietly launched on the end of 2021 and had its boom during all of 2022, but the point still stands. With this in mind, here's the question: if you had the chance to travel back in time, which late launch game would you have fought for in a previous Two Tens discussion? All the best!

If you could own a 2-bed/2-bath holiday vacation home in any video game location, where would it be? You would be subjected to all the rules, laws, and regulations of that game world and landscape (for example, Bowser has a chance to ruin your day in any Mushroom Kingdom locations!)
