Loved that Ben mentioned Sword & Sworcery in the Arco discussion. S&S's visuals and music create such a unique vibe, and more people need to know about the soundtrack.

Good call! I completely forgot about that factoid!

Ben Hanson

Since Ben name-dropped Idle Thumbs earlier in the episode, I gotta shout out that Sean Vannaman was the guy who pitched Epic Mickey. He was an intern at Disney Interactive for a very short time in his early 20s, and they told him to come up with a game to pitch. He learned a little about Disney and nobody had heard of Oswald The Lucky Rabbit at that time, so he found this prototype Mickey really interesting and started building a concept for a 3D platformer where he takes Mickey into a land of forgotten Disney ideas. He left the studio shortly after and saw the game announced about 5 years later. It's described in the March 2011 episode of Idle Thumbs named "Conf Grenade"

I played Epic Mickey on release when I was 6. It was the first game I had ever played other than a lego game, and to this day it’s one of my favorites. To my 6 year old mind the world felt so hostile and adult- it took me forever to finish it and I loved every minute of it. I don’t think I’ll be revisiting it as I don’t want to ruin the magic lol. Today Deus Ex is one of my favorite games, so I guess things came full circle!

Jack Tinker

Yeah, loved it! I'm glad for more ^ . ^

Have you checked out The Deepest Dive as well?

Ben Hanson

Glad for a good 30min more Zelda talk!

Like a Dragon: Ishin has a fun cooking minigame! You actually chop vegetables and have to time flipping meat to get the right char on it. In terms of interactive credits, the Devil May Cry games let you play out a battle and if you do well enough you usually get a special cutscene at the end for extra incentive to do well .

I’m glad the dumb squirrel question I thought of on the way home from work the other day made it.
