Get Ready for The Deepest Dive On Super Mario 64

We here at MinnMax are happy to announce that we're taking The Deepest Dive into Super Mario 64! With the release of Super Mario 3D All-Stars on the Nintendo Switch on September 18th, now's a great time to have the best, most thorough conversation about Super Mario 64 on the internet. If you don't want to buy the Switch version (which is totally understandable), you can always play the original 64 version or previous releases on the Virtual Console for $9.99.

For the first discussion airing September 25th, we'll be talking about everything in the game up through the first Bowser fight. We'll have a post up on Patreon earlier that week looking for your thoughts on the first third of the game. If you're a supporter at the $5 tier you'll also have access to the podcast version of the game club discussion.

Any help spreading the word about The Deepest Dive is appreciated, we'd love to have some new voices weigh in on Super Mario 64!

Thanks to the following Patreon supporters for their generous support of MinnMax at the $50 tier! Get your name on the list right here - https://www.patreon.com/minnmax

It's been so long since I've played this game that I forgot how to beat the first bobomb boss. I was jumping on his head like a total idiot. Also can confirm that the eel is still spooky

I normally never make these deadlines but here I am with 38 stars and a key burning a hole in my pocket

I haven’t been able to be involved in any of the previous deepest dives but I cannot wait to be involved in this one!

Sorry I should have said if the Switch version is by far the better version to justify that hefty price tag. Will see what reviews say about that one. Yeah I was swaying towards DS version on 3DS after Ana's article on Polygon. Thanks for the advice!

I mean, the Switch version will probably be a pretty good version of the game. It depends on if you want to shell out 60 bucks for it. The DS version is good, it comes with more stars and fun minigames. Plus you can play as Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Yoshi, which is pretty neat. It was hard to play on the DS since it only had the d-pad and (shudder) touch controls, but with your 3DS it should play a lot better.

Beyond excited that this is the deepest dive! I can’t wait.

Never played SM64 (I know!) so unless Switch version is actually good what version does the community recommend? I have 3DS and Wii U (and PC...)

Lucy Yearwood

This makes me more excited to play through Super Mario 64 again.

Jaketrix

Same!

I was going to play Sunshine this friday, but now I definitely have to start with 64. Thanks! 😁
