The land of dragons

Here's a small lore drop with some ideas that have been buzzing in my mind. This time it pertains to the two areas I've been focusing on recently - dragons and the world landscape.

I've had this idea that the magical currents of the world form a dipole similar to Earth's magnetic field, which results in concentrated energies at the north and south poles. These powerful magical energies have transformed the landscape and its inhabitants over the eons, resulting in an arctic volcanic environment similar to Iceland. Throughout the tundras, fjords, lava fields and glaciers roam strange fire-breathing creatures, descendants of the ancient beings that used to inhabit this place. They nest deep inside the volcanic caverns scattered about the landscape. Although they occasionally venture out into the wider world for extended periods of time, they always eventually return home to lay their eggs, as it is the only place in the world where they can hatch.

I have a lot more ideas for this place, both lore-wise and how it ties into the game, but I'll save those for later. Looking forward to when we can show off this landscape in the future, I think it will look very interesting and iconic with the Icelandic inspiration which fits perfectly with the dragon theme.

ooooh a cool lore thing for the dragons could be: A massive crack in the earth is where they return to lay their eggs. This chasm could be the origin where a huge influx of magic ripped the land in two, giving birth to all the magical creatures that reside in your world. this chasm in the earth can serve 3 purposes 1: since the chasm is insanely huge it could give reasons as to why ppl thought about taming dragons in the first place. Easy transport between the 2 worlds. 2: its and easy way to divide the map plus a huge "DRAGONS HERE" for the players 3: its a cool map design that hasn't ever been seen in a game like this. Most games that uses cliffs/ chasms are mainly platformers, or the character doesn't fly in any way Plus you could also make it a black void (AKA you don't have to render anything) I always imagine rly cool scenes of our dragons running off a cliff that feels never ending Since i've seen how massive the map is going to be, i would love to have insane structures that make me fell like an ant.

Definitely!

This actually sounds similar to Ley Lines (Currents of Natural Magic that flow across the Earh like water currents) and this can alter the state of an environment depending on a location. Will this idea have more applications in the game then just the environment? Will it affect the dragon in some way? What if flying through these fields there is a chance you get some kind of encounter (like a fight or mini game to get a cool reward)? Regardless it sounds like a cool worldbuilding detail!
