alloy of friendship . . . ( early access )

Been wanting to do some Era 2 Mistborn fanart since I finished Bands of Mourning but knew I wanted to do a group shot... spent my afternoon off doing this today! 

My husband and I have been reading through Brandon Sanderson's works for like a year now, I've read the Stormlight Archives, and all six Mistborn books. I feel like even thought Stormlight was my entry point and the series I spent significantly more time getting through, the Waxillium era of Mistborn might be my favourite setting/characters out of the books I've read so far. Theo hasn't read this trilogy yet so I have no one to talk to about it but here are some of my Jenn-thoughts on these characters:

-Marasi (bottom left): I thought she would be my favourite character after book 1 but didn't like the cop route that her story arc ended up following. I still like her and she is effectively the team's Amy Santiago (from Brooklyn 99)

-Wax (middle): he is the main character. He is okay.

-Wayne (top right): is standing on a box here apparently. I feel like he comes to realize he might be pansexual?? I didn't have a ton of between thoughts on Wayne specifically, but I like him. I appreciate that, due to his healing powers, he and Wax have a strategy that involves launching him a great distance into someplace they can't otherwise access, which squishes him like a tomato upon landing, but then he just heals right up and continues on his merry way... He's a Good if Chaotic Bean XD

-MeLaan (top left): "queer" was a word create just to describe MeLaan. Alternatively, "gender" is a word that is never allowed to sully her with its presence because though she goes by feminine pronouns, she has no time for genders. She is Tall GF and honestly, I would die for her

-Steris (bottom right): MeLaan is clearly my crush in this series but Steris ended up my unexpected fave character out of the party. I wasn't sure what kind of character she was going to be after book 1 because she is set up with a lot of cliches in it (while Marasi kinda has some "Not Like Other Girls tm" energy to her, Steris is on a mission to get married to a good family and gdi Wax you are her logical choice). 

I don't know if this was Sanderson's intent but it became an increasingly powerful head canon to me that Steris might be autistic. She is at first said to be very cold and calculating but, as the characters get to know her, they find that she's actually incredibly intelligent with her processes and that her aloofness comes more from an inability to socialize and connect the way her peers do. She's someone that very easily could have been made a villain, either in a big plot way or just on a personal level to the main gang, but instead she is incredibly sweet and self-aware of both her strengths and her flaws. She reminds me so much of friends I have IRL and I just love this character to bits auughhh ♥
